My boyfriend and I adore good cheeses - arrived back from NC yesterday - I don't mind Hellim but why oh why do supermarkets there choose to stock up on Dutch cheese - which, no offence, is not the best in world is it!!!!!

jakki, because it keeps well in plastic wrapers and hummid conditions, good cheese is a living, breathing and needs air. i like hellim but the cheaper is very salty to keep it from going off in the heat. like all cheese you get wot you pay for. tootie

Applewood smoked cheddar, Tete de Moine (I even possess a girolle for this cheese), Collier's Welsh cheddar, decent Greek feta (sorry Cyprus, it just ain't the same), Tallegio, Dolcelaate, Raclette. I could live off nothing but cheese quite happily...oh, hang on...I very nearly already do.

I love Fench and Italian cheeses but apart from Stilton my favourite English cheese is Stinking Bishop. Even my French and Italian friends would agree it is a magnificent cheese. I first bought that at Paxton and Whitfield in Stratford but have since bought it in local markets in Worcester area. Other cheeses I adore are Torte Marscapone and Fourme D'ambe and as a Shropshire man Shropshire Blue.

It is originally a Gloucester cheese and was produced by monks. Why is it monks were always producing alcohol and cheese? I suppose you can't withdraw form all the pleasures!!!!! Simbas like I said I first bought it in Paxton and Whitfield who are specialist cheese purveyors but have bought it as far afield as Shropshire, Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester itself. One word of advice if you buy it get it triple wrapped. It's not called Stiking Bishop for nothing!!!!

Hi all you Northeasterners, What about Wensleydale, great with Christmas cake and Hotcross buns. Stinking Bishop can be bought from any good cheese shop or deli but be warned it isn't called stinking for nothing. It will stink your fridge and house out for days. Lilli out on the 30th March and will definitely making a visit to you. The Butlers wife.

| Favourite cheese starter: Camembert dips. 1 small round tub per person, or larger tub for 2 or more. Remove wrapping from cheese Replace cheese in wooden tub, put lid on bottom Make some slits in top, or remove a central circle Place in oven at 180C for 15/20mins, or until fully melted & bubbly Serve with batons of Carrot, Celery, Breadsticks, Pitta slices, etc Deelish!
