If you are saying you want the rate to go down to 2.2 before going back to Sterling, good luck and hope if you do go back into Sterling the rate you went into TL was good.

Try to be patient when going back into TL,which i must admit patience is not one of my strong points.

hsbc or forex account, hsbc are 1 point behindthere profit for doing it, make sure you are checking in banking hours, outside banking hours the differential is massive.

ha ha, thanks Kid

i sort of get the gist of it

my first experience was back around oct 2008, i got loads of Lira at 2.63

and sold later in november for 2.33 and made around 4.5k in just over 4 weeks. Sure beats the crap interest rate i was earning back in the UK

but im still learning and am angry that i missed out the 2.53 rate early this month! But i didnt have the funds ready to play at that time.

so now im just waiting....im looking at staying between...2.50 and 2.30 and not being greedy!

Ok, sorry for bombarding you with questions.

But i think you mentioned this earlier, the Bid and Ask rates are 'closer' together when i check during office hours?

is this correct? and always the case?

(coz when i used to check in the evening the bid and ask rates varied considerably)

because out of hours its not manned, so the diffs are big, you need to do it through trnc banking hours norm up to 5.45 then theres norm 1 point between bid and ask rates

Yes repro, potentially you could make £300 in a few hours, you could also lose £300 or more. It would be interesting to know when all you experts get in and out of the Lira, as its easy to tell us all that you were in at 2.5 and out out 2.2 when you have checked the rates. Tell us when you are going in at what rate and when you are getting out at what rate and we can all see how clever you are.

I cant see how you can 'lose' anything?

unless the currency crashes or stays at lower rate that you got in at for a real lenght of time.

in which case you stick it all in interest account and wait.

Earlier i was at work and posted that i would change once the rate hit 2.40

This didnt happen, and i didnt change, i have now left it until monday

looking at the rate now...still at 2,39...i think i was lucky...lets see...

JJ, i am still very much a novice, but how i got started:

1 - open a HSBC account in TRNC in both LIRA and GBP and get your ONLINE USER NAMER and PASSWORD

2 - open a HSBC account in the UK, and put all your money in there

3 - Transfer the money from your UK HSBC account to your TRNC HSBC account. i believe this to be the cheapest method.

4 - Log online to your TRNC HSBC account and start playing currency exchange!

If i missed anything, others will probably add.

WARNING - YOU CAN SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR WEALTH PLAYING THIS 'GAME'

lol

I spent 10 years of my life involved in buying and selling currencies fixing exchange rates, although i was joking in a previous post about exchange rates moving dramatically in one direction it can and does happen and you can get seriously burnt.

The company i worked for got badly burned over a six month period and lost around £12,000,000 after that they put out of house all work to a third party.

All it takes is one unforseen event in the money markets and they do happen every so many years, the Turkish currency is overdue such an event !

Hi guys

Anyone have a good recommendation for a Forex account that deals with Lira to get involved with the exchange rate variation? Most I have found do not list it. And if we can make it a company that will still be going in 6 months time it will be great!

Cheers

Unless you are professional gamblers you are idiots betting on exchange rates.

Not even profesional gamblers will not gamble on the current exchange rate lottery.
