We are lucky, that we cannot join in with the list of complaints published here.

In May last year (2008), we bought a house in Lapta with the assistance of the Landmark Estate Agency. In particular, because the managing director Sandra Kilic helpfully aided us in all issues (contacts, contract, money transfers, legal adviser, etc.) and at any time, the whole transaction went smoothly from start to finish. Doubtlessly, this dedication goes well beyond limits of "normal" estate agents and we only can call their customer liaison and support more than recommendable.

Particularly, hearing/reading the various "lurid tales" on buying a house in NorthCyprus, we sincerly thank Sandra and the whole crew from Landmark once again. See http://www.north-cyprus-properties-landmark.com/.

Now we just need jobs there so that we can leave Germany to enjoy our new home...

Benny,

If you've got mains water, proper mains electric, house finished and all snagging done, kocan in your hand, you have less problems than most....

Now all you have to worry about is the Orams case (Germany is in the EU isn't it ?), the rocketing prices, the illegally dumped rubish making this "unspoilt paradise" more and more like a shit tip every day, unaffordable car prices (for anything decent), little chance of legitimate employment, Cypriots trying to have you over every which way but loose...

I suspect you won't have your kocan though - did Landmark or your Lawyer mention the Specific Performance Law ?? - probably not...

You might want to take the "rose tinted" glass's off that Landmark gave you.

I would like to see a post from you in 3-4 years time and see what you think then.

Pop into the Home Buyer's Pressure group at the Pia Bella (Tues mornings) next time you are over and listen........

"Negative Nick"

With the name you've chosen for the forum, your message does not scare us too bad .

We have got mains water, electric (in our name) and house finished (in fact, it was already beforehand). The kocan of course needs a while, what you will know.

As this was a post in the estate agents' forum, I think your remark about Orams case, rising prices and environmental carelessness is not really at the correct place...

Landmark as well as our lawyer Tansel Özustaoğlu mentioned the specific performance law and the contract is duly registered.

But nevertheless, we thank you for your comments and are prepared to take any rose-tinted glasses off as soon as realising we had them on!

We too dealt with Landmark Estates and found them to be most helpful. Sandra couldn't do enough for us and Sharon in the office went out of her way to assist us. Our purchase went through smoothly and we are thrilled with our house in Baspinar. Yes as NN says we have to wait & see what the future holds as regards kocan etc but that would be the same with any estate agent. We have nothing but praise for Sandra & her team at Landmark.
