Right...so the day has arrived yet again...Comic Relief!!....In this time of hardship, do you believe that the money that has been raised by UK citizens and tax payers should ultimately been sent to Africa...or should charity really start at home...???

Bearing in mind, working families in the UK are being faced with job losses, reposessions and a lot of other general hardships...or shoud we continue to give money to countries that can neither get or believe in the use of condoms, would the money be better spent in education in Africa, or helping out the poor citizens of the UK that are suffering in this time of need...?

Another interesting thought is, do other countries do this...ie France Spain Germany etc etc...?

interesting ,dd , but look at the celebs milking the limelight ,do you think they really give a shxt where your couple of quid goes> probably costs more to hire them than what the charities will receive .

If all the celebs taking part gave a million each they wouldn't need to beg from us.

Astounded at these comments!!!!

We are enjoying the show and gladly donating to those who have far less than ourselves.

For those who have a real concern the money does not all go abroad, a good deal goes to home charities.

"probably costs more to hire them than what the charities will receive " They give there time freely, presenting or climbing the mountain. Perhaps we should think of them as giving back rather than taking.

Take 10% of salaries from all the BBC employees on TV tonight and that would do nicely.

What else are they gonna do with their free time?? Fall out of pubs drunk and give the papparazzi a few free shots at their expense...? Why not give the cash to the RSPCA for instance.....

Year after year .....same old same old !!!!!! when will they realise throwing money at Africa doesn't work. The land can only support so many people.Introduce contraceptives and fewer children will have a far greater chance of survival.

Contraceptives will only be an answer when the child mortality rate is improved.

Everyone who contributes know where their money is going, it is voluntary.

If you don't like the idea, don't watch or support it, Simples.

Personally I do not trust charities, they look after themselves first and foremost...

Africa is a big hole we have been throwing money at it for over 40 years if they cant get it right after all this time then we should be giving our money to other worthy causes.

Surely it's up to the contributers who they give their money to.

I often wonder how much of our money actually goes to the 'worthy cause' I am a great believer in helping the less fortunate however, if each of us sent £5 to our chosen charity, say for instance save the children, the £5 goes to a head office, this office has staff, their is a Company Director,a Director a Secretary, an under secretary and varius office staff, all have to be paid, these people do not Volunteer, so how much of our £5 actually gets through to the Children in need?

As I see it the only way to make sure the fat cat's or the government do not cash in would be to buy the things the needy actually need and deliver it all yourself!

Yinglis- although I'd like to be able to disagree with you, I think you're right. Band Aid was 25 years ago, and they're still buying weapons and fighting, rather thantrying to feed the population and put contraceptive programs into effect.

Unfortunately Africa is a continent riven by greed and corruption, and there are only a few examples of countries in that continent run on "normal" lines. If some difference is going to be made, any help has to be with strict conditions to the recipient country, that's the only real way to help.

Dying babies and young children aren't buying weapons. Mothers dying in childbirth aren't fighting.

Same as I said previously, if people in Britain wants to donate, it's none of your business.

Personally, I enjoyed the programme - where else can I see these celeb's sending themselves up in such an entertaining way?

They give their time for free, raise money for the needy and entertain the audience - what's wrong with that?

...but "self-interest?"

Macha, after recent events in the world of finance, surely, you can't blame people for being suspicious?
