As usual at about this time every year I do a check of the kitchen cupboards. A sort of spring clean I think.

Anyway, this year, probably due to the recent excessive damp weather, I have found an infestation of weevils in nearly all of my dry stuff. I am in Esentepe.

The little buggers are in my flour, gravy granules, Cheese crackers, all of the different pastas and believe it or not, in my breakfast cereal.

A word of warning. Check all your dried stuff. They are everywhere.

I am not overly fussed about them and just bin everything and buy new to keep her happy. A bit of protein is nothing but useful but some may find it a little distasteful.

Check your cupboards. Ugg!! Says the good lady of our house.

hi simon

we keep all that type of stuff in plastic containers and don't have a problem.

they only got into my flour once and i learnt the hard way with the mega kitchen clean out.

not anymore!

Hi Simon poor you. Had the same problem and like firestarter I now keep everything in tupperware type containers that saves me throwing things away which I find hard to get. Happy shopping xxxx

Simon you have what we call in the business stored product insects. It could be biscuit beetles flour moth or any other type of SPI. What I would suggest is to throw out all dried food and empty adjoining cupboards as well and spray them with a cheap flyspray. You may have purchased something that was infested already from a supermarket ( not unusual). Plastic containers will only stop them from infesting other foodstuffs and will confine the infestation to the plastic container.

yes ataturk is right.

a friend purchased some rice in a sealed bag and when he got home he noticed something else in it.

so check everything you buy carefully.

You will be better the older you get! Not that you will get less bugs its just that your eyes start to fail and you can not see them anymore!!!

Never had any in our cupboards - well, none that we have seen anyway.
