Does anyone know of any Parks or Play Areas in the Lapta / Alcansak area?, it is the only thing we have not found in Northern Cyprus which my young children really do miss when out there on holiday.

There aren't very good ones in Alsancak or Lapta (that I've found anyway!) But there's a really good one in Karaoglanoglu - turn off the main road, signposted to Karaman (i think!), over a tiny bridge then first left, follow road over speed bumps round bend to left then second right. It's called Sevgi Park. Also there's another small park in Karsiyaka, just off the main road on the right hand side coming from Girne.

There's also a toddler group at the Lapida Hotel every Wednesday 10am-noon. Another board member runs a group over in Catalkoy on Mondays and Thursdays so might be worth a trip. Hope that helps

Bit of a drive, although a pleasant one, we go to Guzelyurt Park. On the left before you enter the town. There are large grassed areas, a mini zoo with Ostriches and various other birds, well, I guess zoo is pushing it a bit! There is a great wooden TURKCELL playground in the park and a roundabout and other play area.

Many thanks for your replies, I do know the play areas down by the Harbour but no others. Can you tell me please Susie where Karoglanoglu is? I would like to try the park you mention " Sevgi Park" even if it is quite far away from Lapta.

It's not too far from Lapta - a 10 minute drive maybe? From Lapta take the main road towards Girne. Karaoglanoglu is between Lapta and Girne on the main road - from about the Tempo supermaket up to about the GAU turning. After Tempo carry on till you come to a cross roads, take the road to the right signposted to Karaman - there's a Kirni Pilic, shop on the corner. Take that and then follow signs to Sevgi Park. Hope that makes sense! Its a big park with a good climbing frame/slides and also has an outside gym if you're feeling energetic yourself! Also has a basketball hoop so maybe take a ball along for added fun.

Billbob - an amendment to my directions. I discovered today that what used to be a shop selling chicken is now in fact a very nice ice-cream shop called Moda and painted florescent yellow. They do lovely ice-cream with a small cone only costing 1ytl so is a good place to stop off after a run around at the park. So, look for that and take the turning on the right there and follow signs to Sevgi Park. Have fun!
