Hi Tiger, David123 and Fatboy, I dream of riding a Motorbike at Sun set along the Coast road from Catalkoy to Tatlitsu! I am looking at buying a bike but it would be for export from UK to Cyprus only. UK is far too hazardous for bikes. Ive hired a Harley Sportster 2 years running in Kos, Its a dream and pleasure to ride out there...............In the UK where I currently live No thanks! Ironically I was looking at Bikes on ebay this weekend..! nunu1

I am the Tiger who uses a Tiger (made in the UK) have now survived for 20 months on N/C roads, as in the UK you don't trust any driver. Did David buy your Aprillia Millie from Wheels International. Dear fatboy do you own a fatboy, last oct 08 there has opened a Harley motorcycle showroom in Girne (not genuine H/D Euro imports).I am sure if you survived on Indian Roads then Cyprus is no problem. Good Luck from the Tiger. PS long may i survive.

Been biking for four years in NC, Enjoy the off road trails in the North the Troodos range is fantastic, took the floating skip and did the Tarus mountains Turkey last year, fantastic biking country. Presently riding KTM Adventure sounds like a bag of hammers but suits the conditions here great. About time they got a decent touring club on the go, so much to see with like minded folk who enjoy a laugh and a beer. D.N

Hi I ride a Triumph ST in the UK and would love to ride from the UK to NC. Does anyone know: - How much import duty would cost? - Where the ferries cross to/from NC? - What the resale market would be like in NC? That coast road from Catalkoy to Tatlisu would be great Thanks Phil

Another biker fan here, I raced solo for 9 years Motocross and then Sidecar passenger for 2. Broke a lot of bones and then started on the road bikes. I had 2 Ducatis and an MV Agusta. The only bike i have now is a CCM 580 John banks. I am trying to convince myself i need one over here. There is a motocross track on your left as you approach the main roundabout heading into Lefkosa from Girne.

I am tempted, Maybe this year i will get another one. What is the top sports bike on the market today, I like the Ducatis for the Torque although i have not seen any dealers on the Island. I have seen the Aprilla dealer on the south, Maybe i will pop in there without the wife. Lets get a rating of the best superbike on the market this year and why.

I luv the triumph range, wish I'd gone for the 1050 Tiger as would have been more useable over here. For anybody wanting to hire a bike contact Cyprusharv he has some great 400 Honda Falcons which suit both road & offroad riding overhere. Dee mess 13. | Hi Tiger Have only lived over here for 6 weeks, but am missing my '98 ZX6R which is back home in UK. Would have liked to bring it over but thought they might not let it in as too old. Thought I would buy one here but there are no 2nd hand bikes about, for the right money. Would like to know if I could ride it over to here and import it or would it be too expensive? Any replys appreciated Pete |

Hi all you guys and bikers, I just love your enthusiasm about bikes but please don't go roaring up and down the beautiful coast road on them. It has a fifty kilometre speed limit on most of this road. I live down there because I love the peace and quiet. Please take other people into consideration when planning your days out. Take care all you mods and rockers, oh! and hells angels. The butlers wife

Hi guys I first rode dad's bike when I was 12 and hooked on bikes since. Have ridden various bikes in UK for 32 years. I now have a CBF600SA I am in two minds whether to bring it to Cyprus this summer or to buy a small trail bike over here. Small trail bike would be good for the road trails in the mountain range upto Karpaz. PeteMate Importing will cost you about 67% (if japanese) of the value + $575 You are right about bikes being a bit too expensive here but it is all due to the very high import duties applied. Biker

Just sold my 2002 Daytona 955i here in the UK would love to own a bike out there so i could ride in the sunshine for a change, had the 955i since new it was like losing a close family member when it went a few weeks ago, but it was not getting used 250 miles between the last two MOT's. I would like to get another bike but not brand new maybe an MV Agusta or Benelli Tornado ( i like my bikes to be different) i'm not your R1, GSXR, fireplace type of person.. (you know the Honda Fireplace every home has got one!!) BUT the wife has just had a new BMW so will have to wait a while. Thought about getting a cheap trail bike in cyprus upto say 450cc so i could play around a bit. Pete

I love em but Sports bikes are useless in the TRNC they are to focused and limited dual purpose is the way forward here, on/off road ability is a must. I have a KLE 500 which is ideal for here. I agree with other posts a club for like minded bikers would work well here. Any takers.

Dear butlers wife i believe in general the attitude of the bikers on this forum is not about speed, but they are enthusiastic motorcyclists. Therefore please relax its all about community & like minded attitude. Hi petemate so long as your ZX6 is under 9 years old & you have owned it for 5 years + then you can import it, the duty will be high about 70 to 100% but worth it. Helper like the sound of the music event can you give more details as this could be our first meet. tattlad look forward to seeing your softail & yes lets have weekend events. YES Mr wilson do the face book. mustafaleak i agree. LOOKING FORWARD TO ALL RESPONCES

Thanks for the info in earlier posts. A Facebook site sounds great & ideal for posting events for all to join in.... Maybe next time I'm out (June/July), I'll have to hire a bike and meet up. Is it posisble to hire kit (crash helmets, etc.) in NC? Although, even if possible, maybe not advisable!! Phil

Ok, I joined the facebook group... Now what? Also noticed that there was a TRNC Bikers group and a web site http://www.bikersclubcy.com, but it's still 'under construction'. In the UK, I used to join in a 'toy run'. A group of local bikers would get together for an anuual run to donate toys to a local children's hospice. If anyone has the means/inclination and knows of a worthwhile NC charity....

I'm up for bike meets, ride outs etc. I worked in the bike industry for forty years and have imported one of my older bikes to TRNC, a 1981 Yamaha XS750. Raced off road ie Enduro and MX for 25 years, mind still willing but body slowly breaking up! We drove out to TRNC last year and would recommend the trip to anyone with a sense of adventure, and humour! We arrive back in Lapta in 10 days, so I will have the Yamaha back on the road asap. Anyone who needs any friendly mechanical advice or general info on bike related subjects, post question on this site or email me off board.

Hi Guys I'm coming to North Cyprus for a week (wedding anniversary hol) in mid/late May and will be staying in or near to Kyrenia and really want to hire a bike for a couple of days to explore some of the surrounding historical sites - castles mostly. If possible looking for either a Harley or a large enduro (ride heritage softail, sportster and ccm in uk) but will take anything thats not too small. Is there anywhere you can recommend that I could either book in advance or after arrival? cheers Craig

Hi Craig Try Harvey, he is east of Kyrenia in Bellapais, he used to hire Yamaha and Honda trail bikes, but not Harley's. His mobile is 05338456019. If you are thinking of riding off road, bring your own MX gloves, they don't always supply them. Regards Mike
