Has anyone had any dealings with a Munur Doratli of Doratli & Doratli? He is a solicitor with offices in Girne and Lefkosa and on a referral from a T/C friend I used him for my Villa purchase in 2006. However I have tried on and off for the past 3 weeks without any success to contact him to establish how much longer my permission to purchase application will take. I'm not too concerned just yet as I am fully aware of the way things work across there but I have in the past found dialogue with his firm to be slightly odd to say the least. Anyway, I would be interested to hear from anyone who may have had dealings with him and whether they have encountered the same problems as myself. Jim.

Sorry never heard of them but If you have your application number you can contact the Land Registry yourself and they will tell you how far up the list it is. Karen

They all seem much of a muchness, you have to chase all the time. For info I purchased Sept.04 and received PTP July 07 so don't expect info yet although I believe they have speeded the process up. Good Luck.

New to the board so apologies for bringing this forward if resolved. Munur Doratli was recommended to me by Hasan Sungur (Chairman of Estate Agents Group) who in turn was recommended by Property Complaints Office. My office contact with him was very good, but sadly since returning to UK he (like most TRNC advocates) is a poor customer communicator. Emails are no good, but a call to his office on Monday or his mobile after 6pm UK time is best. I have his Kyrenia office number (on a business card from October 2007) as +90 392 815 63 78 (and NOT 70 as in stevie-d message above) The mobile number is the same as I have. greenman

not read the entire thread so don't know if been told this - I think there isn't much solicitors etc. can do to speed up the process and there seems to be no logic or system in how PTB are allocated - there used to be a list of them on Home Buyers Pressure Group site - if you know your numbers, you can check yourself

Hi Kerim, You obviously know him, have you had a bad experience dealing with him?? I found him charming to talk to and felt having trained and qualified in London he would have inherited some of the better professional ethics that most Lawyers ( hopefully!!) adopt once they qualify in the UK. I have to say that when buying my villa in TC the easy- oasy laid back manner of Munur was something alien to me as I know the hoops that I have had to go through in terms of legal searches etc when buying property here in Scotland. Concerned at this I got my own Lawyer to speak to Munur before paying the balance on the villa and he too felt whilst the legal system in TC is basically sound and not too dissimilar to UK ( English) law its execution leaves a lot to be desired and although Munur answered most of the concerns raised it was based solely on his word and without verification from another source we had to accept it. Lets hope his dithering in client communications is nothing more sinister than that. Jim
