We have some awful names of towns and cities hartlepool, scunthorpe(who put the unt in it?) and Grimsby can they be updated to something warmer or do the residents like them? Any other names you love to hate?

Karaoglanoglu was named after one of the generals in the 1974 peace operation, I think.

I am incorrect in that he was a colonel not a general, and one of the first soldiers to be killed in the peace operation.

Grimsby was named after Grim the first Viking to land on our shoreline, and Cleethorpes was named after the thorpes (villages) of Clee (the Old Church on the shore) not sure about Scunthorpe

Gooligan,

Went to school in Hull, - Marist College - and they used to ship a load of Catholic Goolies in every day.

I sat next to Bunny (Bernard) Toolan, who was a Goolie.

How unlucky can you get?

Keith.
