Notice the pound dropped against all major currencies, with today's unemployment figures released. Predictions expected to reach over 3 million by end of next year.Is there an answer,i have one stop mass immigration,do you have an angle on the solution.

I agree kellybelly. Immigration should be curbed immediately. There are no job prospects for British workers let alone foreign workers. They are only coming here for the benefits.

The first politician to come out and say that his party will stop immigration will get my vote.

Only a sovereign country can curb immigration. UK lost that status when she joined EU and now has to abide by the rules of Brussels. Any one up for Brussel sprouts?

The only UK party that would address some of the comments regarding immigration and Sovereignty,..

is the BNP.

Would you really want to vote for them?

In Scotland we need MORE immigrants with skills to help populate and contribute to the country. This is recognised as a demographic problem. We already have legislation in place which allows foreign students to stay and work here longer than in England and other parts of the UK, and rightly so.

In addition we have a proud record of resisting London-based UK immigration enforcers who use dawn raids to terrorise families and put young children in camps behind razor wire. Shame on them.

Macha re message 6

you must live on planet uranus in scotland, I read the 4 main scottish newspapers online everyday, never read this ?????, or was that written in "The Uranus Times" All I read is constant job losses after job losses. Look what happened in Dundee the other week.

So I agree with the many message's - action now on a UK basis or otherwise I fear the BNP will begin to rise and you would not want that.

msg 7. A very interesiing and enjoyable read David, thanks for putting the forum straight.

Obviously the person you are replying too, seems to have made an error for once! Maybe that he does not live in Scotland may be the reason for being behind with the times.

If you think unemployment is bad in the UK - did you see the 'hidden' statistics published in last week's Cyprus Today?? Unemployment in NC has risen 14% between Dec 2007 and Sept 2008. Shocking - yes - until you see that in numerical terms that equated to an increase from 1,600 to 1,800 unemployed. Hard times indeed!

The other factor to consider is the term 'technological unemployment'.

Machines forced people out of agriculture and machines have replaced people in manufacturing jobs, which in turn has forced people in to the service industry (although much of the manufacturing has gone to China) .

Now the service industry is being hit by technology improvements, for example cash machines have replaced bank tellers, call automation and efficiencies are replacing contact centre staff etc.

Turtle, you certainly know your stuff ! Enjoy your day.

ILC, this is why it is important to spend/purchase in the TRNC as much as possible. We can all help the economy.

What a fantastic morning in Lodon.
