Searching through todays topics I find poste about parental responsibiliy, reducing voting age. Mandatory retirement. etc etc.

Is it the wish of the moderators to change the board and bring in more diverse subjects?

I personally find it all a bit of a bore. I want to read about what's happening in the TRNC now I have left the island. Not crap I can find on zillions of forums all over the web.

Then may I respectfully prepose that you don't read the posts that you personally think will be a bit of a bore? Radical I know but it works for me.

I tend to take notice of posts made by the people who run this forum.

I think their posts should be relevant.

Stewy,

Of course you are going to take a battering. On posting, you knew that. A true friend of Cyprus 44. My contribution....

There are non so blind, as those who cannot see! Just my view, thats all.

Having said that, I do find it very disappointing and disheartening that serious posts i.e. Seaterra mortgages - warning! can be relegated by frankly irrelevent posts about North Cyprus i.e. about whinging about football etc. So, Stewey, I see where you are coming from and apologise.

Lots of space seems to get wasted by people moaning about meaningless posts. I do wish they wouldn't do it.

they will be meaningless to some , but others enjoy reading them and joining in with the crack, as hector says you can just skip by the ones that dont interest you /

When I see posts about castrations, I of course assume it is relevant to the TRNC. I open the post and it is all nnot relevant drivel.

I assume this sort of post is the policy of the site to make 44 more interesting.

I think we should stick to local interest in general. I love posts about The Grumpy Grouse or what a great meal was had at Guido's. Fights at darts matches. The mood of investors in the TRNC.

Politics and where the TRNC is heading.

etc etc etc....

stewy - I understand your desire to read more TRNC related posts. I have the same desire as well.

But, we cannot really complain and do much if members wish to talk about other things.

I think the main question that should be discussed on this thread should be this:

How can we motivate ourselves to talk more about TRNC related issues on this board?

Is there anything that is distracting us from posting TRNC issues?

I hope this helps.

Many thanks for your comments sir.

I appreciate the management of this forum does not wish to change into just a meaningless chatroom about non related issues.

Stewy,

Fair point and i apologise for banging on about football, but what i have found on here recently is that the Cyprus stuff tends to turn into a slanging match and gets very personal at times.I want to see more posts about Cyprus, after all it is a Cyprus forum but people need to stop becoming so personal with some of their comments,

Paul.

I agree Dodge.

I have no problem with footy posts. Football seems to become more relevant when you are away from the UK.

When in Cypus I hardly missed a match. Now I am in the UK I hardly watch it.

Sorry fo my meaningless post.

I thought I did ask a question. Pasted below.

Is it the wish of the moderators to change the board and bring in more diverse subjects?

I got my answer from Izzet pasted below.

stewy - I understand your desire to read more TRNC related posts. I have the same desire as well.

If this is meaningless to you.

Very sorry.

Stewy, This is not the first time you have objected to some of my posts. Previously I had not took the bait and responded, however now I feel I have to respond as it is clear that you are not going to stop.

Firstly I note that you say that you like to read posts about people having meals and the fights that go on at darts matches. I’m afraid to say that I do not frequent places where fights generally erupt, perhaps this is due to my dislike of darts and ‘boozed up’ people in general. Regarding people having meals, well I’ve eaten at many many restaurants all over the world but I certainly wouldn’t start a thread every-time I had a meal.

On a recent thread about the trnc you said “I had to take a hit and lost about a third on the price I paid. However I am glad I took the plunge as I was increasingly unhappy living in Cyprus. The frustrations of life there outweighed the benefits. The place seemed ideal when I first arrived. But has slowly gone down the toilet. (to be continued below)

Life got increasingly boring and I am happy now away from the place”

On another thread about property prices in the trnc you said “I sold up last month. Owned my appartment for 2 years. I lost about a third of my capital plus I threw in my car and furniture. I am happy with the money I got, as I was sick of the island. Also I was happy to at least get something for my place as the market is stagnant and prices are dropping rapidly”.

What confuses me more is that, given your comments in the above statements, If you don’t live here or even own a home here and you are”sick of a place that has gone down the toilet”, why are you interested in reading about the trnc?

Hello sir.

Many thanks for your post.

I like to read about the place I left. Nothing more. I am hoping for good things for the expats living there and hope to read positive things on this board.

My heart and thoughts are with you all.

My only problem with you No 1 is you seem to think everything that goes through your mind is important to this board. Endless what's your favourite pasta shape etc etc etc. And now all these morality issues that are just drivel and posted on the wrong place. Join another forum for this.

This is not a personal attack on you. Just a concern as to the direction of the board.

I guess I was a little bitter at the time I sold up. However looking back there were some good times in Cyprus. I keep in touch with friends who are still on the island and I still read this forum, although it seems to have lost the plot somehow.

I will be back for a week in August No 1 to attend a christening and will buy you a drink if you are offended.

Stewy, I'm not offended by any comments made about the posts that I make. There's only so much you can learn about anything new thats going on in the trnc. Granted that some people like reading about good/bad restaurants/bars, whether or not they have their deeds, the cheapest place to buy tomatoes, who is the best notary, my builders run off with my money, etc etc.

I only try and bring something different to the forum , after all that is what it is an internet forum, a message board, an online discussion site.

As Hector said, and this isn't only aimed at you, don't read the posts if you think they are going to bore you. I don't read the posts about punch ups at darts matches or the worst restaurants, but i would'nt post that they should'nt be on here.

Hope you have a good evening.

I can understand how humiliating it must feel for you to be among people capable of debating politics and the Cyprus issue, when you are barely able to manage more than a one-line paragraph of little or no consequence. Check out your own posts before attacking others.

So, stewy - posts not relevant to TRNC. How do you explain the unprecented success recently of the "Maybe It's Becuse I'm a Londoner" thread?

there's a good index at the top of the forum page.

AJ - I'm a bit confused here. Agree with Chick's post. Simbas definitely referred to him as Nige and then announced he was banned. Also, could someone please explain why Garry Monger's thread, which immediately followed the "ban" of NN has completely disappeared, despite having a very positive reponse?

Thanks

I only have access the members that appear in the 'Top Members' tag and although NN is, Gary Monger is not on that list. So I cannot tell you whether he has had a ban imposed.
