Can I buy a prepaid SIM card in TRNC

Hello,



Advice please, can anyone tell me if I can buy a prepaid SIM card in TRNC, this will save me paying roaming charges when making local calls during my short stay there.

We use the Lemar supermarket at Karakum to get a Turkcell card they are really helpful in there for topping up and sorting the settings and language on yoru phone etc. We just swap our sim cards over when we arrive usefeul for emergency numbers when in NC as well as making cheaper local calls. If you dont use all your credit and its not working when you arrive just go and re top up it re activates the card and you dont lose any money.

Just make sure your phone is unlocked and then you should be able to use any sim card in it.

For the benefit of the completely stupid i.e. me. Do you have to have an unlocked phone to swap the sim cards or will any phone work.

LOL yes...... When you put a turkcell sim in for the first time it will be in Turkish but the nice people in Lemar sort it out for you.

But do remember to keep your paperwork with your lock code as everytime you replace the sim you need the code!

Absolutely and you only get three chances at entering the right code so after two wrong attempts don't try again until you are sure of the right code.
