Not too many acts over here that I would go back and see, Danny is the exception. I think that it will be a great loss if he goes south this summer.

Particularly, as this year, hopefully, there will be more tourists coming to visit this lovely island.

Danny is certainly a great act. He is also very brave - he got me to sing. Elvis must have turned in his grave!

there's only so much Elvis a man can take - i reached my limit half way through the first performance.

Johnnie H is a more rounded performer.

"Particularly, as this year, hopefully, there will be more tourists coming to visit this lovely island. "

there will significantly less tourists here this year ,south reporting 19% down allready .

uk tourist going to other places ,ie turkey up 23% ,egypt up same .

cyprus got to get act together for full settlement (whatever that is ) and attack good standard of accomodation ,all inc at affordable prices .....flights also or they will loose even further ground over next 5 years .

uk been told to holiday outside euro zone

kav

i do hope elvis get his work permit as im told he is very much appreciated in north and puts on great show

I could be mistaken kavenkoy, but I always thought that North Cyprus was a Euro-free zone; surely a reason why the TRNC could benefit tourism-wise this summer.

With the right marketing and publicity, surely our Tourism Minister should be pushing this very fact?

I guess we will find out come July.

If nothing has been done however, and there are no obvious results, I do think that questions should be asked.

ozwozz86 - questions have been asked and not answered for many years regarding TRNC tourism. Untill they employ people who actually know about the business, things will never change. Biggest problem, as I understand it, is that only TRNC "locals" are employed in such positions, and not "outsiders". How difficult would it be to employ someone from, say, Turkey, which has a thriving tourist industry? Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to happen.

Well said J,

What gets me is the potential this part of the island has.

'Come and visit somewhere that does not exist' has such a ring to it, and has dragged people here. But when they get here, and see the amount of rubbish dumped everywhere, it surely must make them ask themselves what they've got themselves in for.

But there are positives though...

We spent 3 weeks in TRNC in november looking for a property but due to the untidyness , fly tipping , lack of pavements and roads to properties etc we have decided against it for now ... hoping it gets better !!!

I have family here staying at the moment who have never been before so we have been out and about. Went to Lefkosa yesterday, Lefkosa Belediyese jazz band playing in the Buyuk Han, lots of people eating and drinking and enjoying the sunshine. Been to Salamis today then back over the mountain to the East with breathtaking scenery. Coffee and apple pie in the harbour as the sun went down, lots of people enjoying the afternoon, restaurants busy. Reminds me just why I love it here.

i think its starting This week alone I have seen council workers cleaning the streets, many many red plated cars and a least 2 lots of customers coming to buy. Overlook all the negatives what you they see in down town Bagdad for instance. You say they come because we are not regonised. I think when they understand the history of this little place then you know they have made great inroads. . They had no one to answer to and people bought now they may have to be answerable watch things change. we had the minister of tourism in for dinner last week and his brief last year get israel to come and invest and gamble. Now that does not give you hope or confidence. April will see a big change. xxx

Lilli, Danny is a nice guy - just a pitty (IMHO) that he only sings Elvis - just to much for me..

Jonnie H on the other hand does all sorts - remember going to one of his "swing" nights at the Pia Bella, which was very entertaining.

Hi Nick I totally agree with yo about Jonnie. He is a great singer and all round entertainer. I just wish I could get out more to see some of these acts. I hope that Danny gets fixed up south side as he will not have the permit worries and maybe a larger target audience. Take care Nick xxxx

Jonnie performs a superb Swing Show which is made up of tracks made famous by the "Rat Pack." He also has a classic party set made up popular tunes from 60's right through to now. Lastly, he is the front man of what, in my opinion, is by far the best rock band on the island "Funky Monkey".

He and Danny sometimes work together which is always good fun, and Jonnie often organises shows at the larger venues which include several of the good local acts.

Well worth seeing if you get the chance.
