Agreed - apart from a couple of hiccups it has been excellent, and Tariq is a great guy.

Try the take away beside Lemar in Karakum - a small part of the Dragon and the food is the best I have had on the Island - personal choice of course.

China Garden did not impress me with quality of food at all - sorry, will not be back.

Isn't posting about the the subject matter, not the poster?

If Izzet wants a vibrant board. then he needs to address these matters!

I hate to say it, but Nigel has it right on his board, and how many times have I told you.

Attack the subject matter, not the poster! Simple isn't it?

Anyone thought to ask about Simbas? Conspicuious by here absense!

Seems Cyprus 44 has a long way to go. Have a good weekend!

And by the way........Negative Nick. There is medication that can help! Spare us having to share it!

Thanks Lady Little

we will give it a go when over in september,

Last sept we went to the Dragon at the Rocks Hotel and have to say we found the food very mediocre and expensive for what it was !! actually it was probably the most expensive meal in 3 weeks, for chinese food quite odd !

Thankyou for the recomendation

The China Garden gets my vote for the worst chinese! The best meal we have had was at the China House!

SaraP, I wonder if, with the advent of the Dragon, places like the Chinese House have improved. I haven't been there for years.

When I first came to TRNC there were 4 chinese restaurants. Three were mediocre to bad, one (the Jade Garden?) at Karakum was the pits.

It's good that things have improved in recent years.

We realised that the thing to do at the Dragon was to avoid alcoholic drinks, otherwise it was very expensive.

Kaiserphil, I think you maybe right! I went to the Dragon about 2 years ago and did not rate it that much and found it expensive. Have tried the laughing Buddha and Mr Chun too but they no way compare to the China House.

Tried the Dragon for the first time last night, (probably will be the last).

The restaurant is very nice, the staff friendly and attentive, the food tasty but nothing special, starters expensive and extremely meagre portions, main meal good. Nice bottle of wine and then the bill !!!!!. No shocks or surprises as the menu states clearly the individual costs, in my opinion overpriced and over rated.

In The China Garden we had 2 bad meals about a year ago and were not impressed at all, but we decided to give it another visit recently, glad we did a very good all round meal at half the price of the Dragon !!

Chinese House gets our vote the food is always excellent & you get plenty to eat. It is very popular with Cypriots which is always an indicator of value for money & quality of the food.

We have been to the Dragon House several times as it is a really nice restaurant but the prices are astronomical & they tend to rush you through your meal.

Have eaten at China House twice although not recently but would not go again in a hurry.

I called it the China House, but it is infact the Chinese House..my mistake! The Chinese House is on the Lapta road, Girne and the China Garden is in Catalkoy. Quite easy to confuse the 2 Restaurants China Garden, Chinese House...lol!

Have tried a couple of meals in Mr Chuns near the new harbour roundabout and they all taste the same. The China Garden didn't fare too well either with our friends and that was after 4 attempts.

The Chinese House is probably the best over here for price, quality and portion size.

Doughnuts, thank goodness for that! I thought my memory was playing tricks with me!

As for Mr Chuns - oh dear! What different standards we seem to have!

Has anybody mentioned Chopsticks above, I don't see it? Lots of praise in the past for this restaurant, but I always found it average. I think their major problem is (was?) lack of kitchen space.

And, yes, Tariq is a great guy!

Chinese House is almost opposite the Ship between Girne & Karaoglanoglu (too early to be bothered to spell that correctly before anyone jumps down my throat). If you plan to go Fri/Sat you definitely need to book.
