This winter when buying a paraffin heater we were warned to use only clean fuel,since dirty fuel would damage the wick and cause odour.It seems that only 2 petrol stations,both in Lefkosa,sell clean paraffin,-none in the Girne area,where tankers used for diesel then carry paraffin.Diesel destroys the quality of paraffin,and,as a consequence the heater malfunctions.The shop owner has asked Ministry of Agriculture (Tarim Bakanligi) and Fuel Dept(Akaryakitbolumu)also Kibris Turk Petroller,and Altinbas Petrol to stop Paraffin being put in tankers containing diesel residue,but to no avail. He now asks that Paraffin Heater Users contact the above mentioned four,in the hope that something may be achieved,since he is getting complaints about faulty heaters when, in fact,it is the contaminated fuel causing the problems. Not everyone can get to Lefkosa regularly to purchase their paraffin,nor should they need to!
