I have just recieved my quote for a container to nc and it states that they have been given new instructions for 2008 from there agents that customs are now "unable" to clear shipments at delivery address, and that we must have supplied all necessary documents for the agents to clear on our behalf in nc? Also I have read that you need to get forms from the local muhtar to allow your container to be cleared?

I would be grateful for any information on this.....

Regards

Yes, you have to get permission from you village/town Muhtar but I believe that most shipping agents will advice you. Also read the thread:

Moving out to NorthernCyprus

There's a lot of info on different shippers etc.

Good luck

You need to get a certificate of residence from the local Muhtar.

You need to buy a few stamps locally to do this but it is quite straight forward and your agent should advise, You need your passport and deeds or lease.

You also need to go to Girne police station to get your " in and out" form this lists the number of times you have been back and forward to N/Cyprus.
