Does anyone know if you can use your uk debit card to withdraw sterling at the banks over there and if the banks charge. Lloyds only charge you £1 per withdrawel if you withdraw sterling overseas so this would be preferable to bringing all cash and saves on the currency exchange charge also.

Many thanks.

Yes you can use a uk debit card to withdraw sterling or Lira. As you say Lloyds charge a minimal amount per withdrawal. Also ----and this is the odd thing--- i have withdrawn £500.00 from the HSBC cash machine (£200.00 max in UK!)

Hi All

If you have a Nationwide account you can use your card to withdraw money without any charge.

We come over twice a year, and always use our Alliance & Leicester Debit Card, never being charged
