Scientists have identified five possible combinations of marital partnerships, rating two as stable, one uncertain and the other two doomed. The partnerships are:



Two Validators - Mutual respect, shared attitudes = Stable

Two Avoiders- Agree to disagree, avoid conflict = Stable

Two Volatiles- Both Passionate = Could go either way

A Volatile and a Validator- One Passionate, one conciliatory = Unstable

A Validator and an Avoider= One faces issues, other avoids =Unstable

Well according to that test we are unstable! but we`ve been married 35 years this year, so we must be doing something right, mind you I`ve always liked a challenge.

Developed by a team of British and American mathematicians, it has since been tested on 700 newlyweds.

Researchers invited the couples to a laboratory and asked them to discuss contentious issues – such as money, sex and in-laws – for 15 minutes while being filmed.

Observers then watched the film, scoring each statement made by the husband and wife using a points system. A husband or wife would get positive points if they used a warm tone of voice, told a joke, or used affectionate body language. They would get negative points for displays of anger, coldness, eye rolling or mockery.

The scores were plotted on a graph and the results put into a mathematical model which highlights underlying character traits that predict a marriage's success.

the only reason, the wife and I not divorced is because neither of us wanted the kids, ------ only joking dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
