Picks,

As of 1st January work permit regulations were tightened.

If you are classed as a Trades Person specialising in a certain field, you must be able to show your credentials in the forms of emloyers references and, more importantly, Certificates from approved tradesmens guilds.

So, if you are an Electrician, for example, you must be able to show you know what you're doing and have certification to prove it.

Your employer will get you a work permit. You will need to have blood tests done. Taxes are payable from your employer and you into taxation and social security funds at a rate of 14% each. Many employers will actually pay your contribution for you as they will claim that you are receiving the Minimum Wage (1060YTL as of 1st Jan 2008) and pay the taxes on that. This is not necassarily what the employer pays you, as when you start work you will negoitate your "take home pay".
