What was the value of say, one half of a donum of scrubby land in the middle of nowhere in 1974?

What was the same piece of land worth in say 2005?

Would the value of this land now or in the future, should it be proved to actually belong to a GC, be based on somewhere in the range of these two values?

If so, when Mr GC comes along armed with the deeds and encounters someone who may sympathise with him. would the amount offered by the TRNC government in compensation not be likeley to be greater and possibly be paid a lot sooner?

This assumes there was no building on the site which may have increased in value and the land was only fit for goat herding which covers an awful lot of properties in TRNC.

If that piece of scrubland can accomodate your house then of coarse it will be at todays land value, like anything prices go up all the time....

Breezyboy. In answer to your third question - No. The values will be based on current values not past values. Estimated costs of half donum now I guess would be £20k.

Obviously these are only assumptions in the event that an assumed rightful owner is able to

make a succesful claim against the current owner.

So what would that TC owned plot of prime seaside land be worth at todays prices, more than a lemon grove I would think.

I still remember my dad selling one plot of land for 1 million TL before 1974.

Now you can only buy box of matches for that price...

Same plot worth approx today 55 thousand ponds in sterling..

Hope helps,

Segmen

nobody has really answered the main question. Some GCs (very few ) have been involved with the TRNC government compensation scheme. Not Turkish as one of the Association for Repatriating Southern Enosis Seekers**, mistakenly said.

What sort of compensation is being offered and would it me more or less than they may get by attempting any court settlement, or reasonable restitution from an owner without aggravation?

To answer another question, the general secretary of ARSES** is currently using 27 different pseudonyms, but could be 28 by the time I finish this.

Hi Juliet,

my reply seems to have dissapeared into the ether.

Is the £250k documented somewhere?

Do you know of anyone ho has received compensation for land only?

And the main question at the top was, is the GC chap likely to get a much quicker offer and payment from TRNC government than from any other option?
