Hello folks,

I need some advice/help.

when I come over to Cyprus in a few weeks time, is it possible for me to get a sim card locally and save the roaming charges, as most of my calls will be local anyway and my phone is registered in Indonesia.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Alex.

Hi Alexo,

The most important thing - does your phone from Indonesia work on another network in YOUR country?

If so, you can tell by putting in a sim from another network in your mobile phone and seeing if it works - if YES, you can buy a prepay sim card in "TRNC" and know it will work!

If your Indonesia phone number is a Vodafone INDOESIA line, then you can get discount roaming charges in Northern Cyprus, as one of the local networks (known as TELSIM) has been bought out, and become Vodafone, so can offer discount rates.

However, buying a local Turkcell simcard makes alot of sense, especially if you'll be making a lot of local calls.

MMMMMM and canyavuz,

Thanks for the advise, I shall buy a prepay card while I am there and that will suit me just fine.

Good luck,

Alex.
