Hi everyone! Am new to the forum but have been reading the posts for a while now with interest! Am currently living in Girne but have not met many 'young' people so nice to see some young faces on the forum! Myself & my fiance are thinking of buying a property on Patara city, am mostly attracted to the central location and big communal pool, just wondering from people who lived there if it is as great as it seems and as we don't have a car if you find food shoping etc easy, I noticed the little grocery shop on the complex was empty at the moment, also are there sun loungers out in the summer around the pool for all resdents to use? There weren't any out today and it seems hot enough for sun-bathing to me! Look forward to your comments and joining in the forum fun! Nat (Natasha)

\Everything is currently in the process of being organised hopefully for Easter. There are a lot of new sun loungers which will be out soon I believe. The little grocery shop has recently closed because there was not enough business, but hopefully they will be able to et someone else to take it on. The weather has been so bad recently, not really sun bathing weather. As far as shopping goes, Lemar supermarket is just around the corner, and all the main shopping areas are in easy walking distance and there is a bus stop at the end of the road (i.e. on the main road). If you do decide to buy at Patara, they have their own forum, but for owners only. I shall be selling my 3 bedroom apartment in July.

Hi Natasha Saw your query about Patara. My friend has an appartment next door so I'm quite familiar with the site and used to read the Patara Forum until last year when it was closed to non -owners to 'protect' the reputation of the site as there was so many negative posts from owners. Ongoing problems included:- Noisy neighbours/locals with barking dogs, Serious issues with damp in the concrete Peoples electric fuses constantly being stolen (owners were even installing metal boxes over the fuses to stop this !) Lack of the promised 'on-site' facilities leading to owners refusing to pay maintenence charges and knock-on lack of money to maintain site. Issues with security (lack-of) and strangers wandering around and using the pool. If you are thinking of buying a flat here -definately do your home-work first to make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. It may well be that all these issues have now been resolved to everyones satisfaction, but better to be forewarned

I have a friend who lives on Patara full time. They had a few problems a couple of years ago , like all new developments, however I am given to understand that it has all been sorted out now.He said they are currently doing some alterations to the indoor pool to put a hand rail round it and also there will be a Gymnasium opening shortly. There is a supermarket and bank on site. The management company also has an office onsite. I must say it is a very very nice development. The gardens are kept perfect and whenever I've been to see him the security is watertight - you can't even get through the gate. He said the forum has been closed for two years to non owners. They have a new forum but he didn't know the link.
