There is no rule that says that you cannot address members other than by their 'pseudonyms'. -IMO

I think that you may have been confused by: -

Rule 8. Personal Posts

Do not post member specific questions. Eg. "Who is LittleIzzet?" or "John please call me today as I am leaving home soon"...

This Rule, as I understand it, appears to be intended to stop the board being used as a substitute for the telephone, and I would have thought, is meant to apply to 'Thread Titles', although it doesn't actually say so - perhaps Izzet might put me right there?

Having said that, the board has, on occassion been used to locate old friends from times past, which has involved 'member specific' threads being posted, and as far as I am aware, no one has ever found this to be objectionable, or a mis-use of the board.

All rules should be applied sensibly, we are not Children, and the mods are not Prefects!

I have posted lots of times on here using people's "real" names. I think what you're getting muddled up with is the rule that states you should not put a direct question of a personal nature to another member, e.g. "John, please call me as I am going out soon" - as stated in forum rules.
