It is proposed that threads that have hint of racism in them or would likely lead to heated debate in that direction should be immediately clamped on and the moderator should jump in to close the thread. Just as the media can be oxygen for terrorists, the thread can povide an apportunity for views to be expressed that could could not be aired oublicy. Any seconder?

Hi Fred8, re msg 1 I know the very thread that you refer to, that would have caused you to write this.. BUT... Whilst I agree with your sentiments, *I* think we should be able read all points of view..within legal limits..

I woudn' agree more with you. However, as you say 'within in legal limits', a few of the comments posted on the thread were certainly outside that limits

| Fred , We all have differing points of view, this can cover any subject, if you dont aggree with the subject matter of a post, ignore it. The post in question is a matter of concern to many and was bound to be heated, respect the views of others, gaging serves no purpose and is probably one of the reasons why so many feel frustration with the subjct matter, as soon as you have a point of view your a racist bigot. | DN.. thank you for your statement .It is obviously aimed at me because I will not abide by his beliefs and he thinks I am a racist bigot.A shame really when one who is supposed to have superior intelligense of all worldly matters has to try and resort to what is commonly called a "gagging" order. The fact that I believe inwhat I say to be not only my sentiments but that of thousands ney, millions of others believe to be true does not matter in the world of free speach.Fred8,if you and your associates do not like what I say there are alternatives.I dislike some of the cr..you post but I have never made any attemptto have you gagged,so be a nice fellow, and dont be so stupid... |

Stupidity has been the post mark of most of your post old boy - the test I would suggest is whether the views expressed on the thread can be openly expressed freely on the streets of england without falling fould of some legislation . In your case you definitly would not only fall foul but be felled out. The question here is not about gagging free expression it is keeping within the limits of decency and limits of hurting other poeple's beliefs and race. The indecency is also heightened when you talk about a particular racial group the vast vast majority who are legally settled and law abiding -yet a few ont he thread have dumped the whole lot as scroungers, terrorists, etc This is indecent. But what is even more indecent is the islamophobia -and here you have targeted and abused not pakistanis but scores of communities including your host country here in North Cyprus. This is the indecency; coachie you have well recognised as being one being pionted at. You have recg ur sel well

.. I also deslike quite a few of the post - but they have the right to be posted and debated as long as hitting people because of race, religion and disibility is avoided. Engaging in direct or using naunces racist remarks are no better than the talibans, israeli or nazi behaviour

I totally agree that we ALL must be free to make statements......that may or may not be agreeable to other people. To infringe peoples right to free speech is to threaten the very basis of democracy. People, who in their own conceited estimation ,feel, that in some way ,they have some kind of PC moral high ground do such democratic processes no favours at all. It is those views in particular, that I would worry about,as they eat away at the fabric of free speech.....we dont quite live in the totalitarian,Stalinist state yet!
