This is a hypothetical situation. It may become reality.

The two communities; the parents in a divorce scenario. The GC Mother and the TC Father.

The GC mother did wrong, so the TC father also did wrong. Various friends and relatives joined in. (TR army, Britain, Greece, UN, etc).

They recently tried to get back together, (the current peace talks), but eventually they could not agree. Their lawyers Christophias and Talat tried, but failed.

During 2010 and 2011 they had a separation. The mother and father became civil to each other and so did their new lawyers (the next presidents).

They agreed they would not get back together, so they decided to get divorced.

What do you think would be the terms of the divorce settlement?

Please, this is hypothetical. So DO NOT discuss anything else but your views on the divorce settlement.

Assume you are the lawyer for your side. It's now 2012. You're at court! It's happening.

Who is the judge? You decide.

As in all 'divorces' the estate is divided, hopefully fairly...imo the south will get Varousha back and the borders will be moved...I would think both north and south will share the port of Famagusta and the north will get the recognition it should have had 34 years ago.

If not then I think the north will become another state of Turkey and be recognised anyway.

Very interesting Dee.

What do you think will happen to Nicosia?

Will TRNC keep it's name or become North Cyprus, etc?

Will it join the EU and use the €?

That depends on whether the north is recognised in her own right which of course it should..

I think Nicosia will stay as it is with both sides sharing..

I think it will remain the TRNC..

I think she will join the EU if she is recognised in her own right..

If she becomes a state of Turkey then I doubt she will get into the EU..but is that important anyway...I don't think so..

This is of course just my opinion and probably quite wrong lol..

I agree with dee, message 3. I think this is what could happen. I also think the TRNC will get the recognition by no later than early next year.

The guarantee by the deputy Prime Minister, that all our properties are safe, has had a huge bearing on this matter. It would make sense if this was the way forward.
