Hi sissy,I,ve just arrived back in Germany after spending 8 days at Magusa,s New Hospital with a broken/ splitted heel.Due to a fall from my ladder why,ll repairing my guttering.The Hospital was first class realy good e.g 2 beds pro room-3 good meals pro day-very clean also the Doctor who operated on me was very good.

But after visiting my Chirurg here in Germany He commented, "Middle Age Technic" how they constructed my heel back together again.."But not to say its wrong!!! and maybe OK ? I,ll find out next week after a MRT X-RAY Scan so hoping thats positive . If you have Family 1 is aload to stay with you 24 hours even sleep in a deckchair yes next to you..otherwise they have fixed visiting times 1pm till 3pm and evennings 5pm till 8pm .

After your stay you receave your paperwork including the Bill which is very cheap I paid 600 TL for the lot including the Operation which cost 41 TL !!!but you must pay in TL no Credit Card or English Pounds.I wish you luck.

Thankyou beno12 and spider for your information. I was wondering if any one knows what it would cost for consultation and operation, we have a villa in kyrenia and it would probably be handier than magusa. Do they have a scanner in kyrenia medical centre? has anyone actually been treated there. would appreciate any comments. I hope your heel is ok now beno12.

A friend of mine had her gallstones out in Nicosia about 3 years ago, and she was very happy with the way she was looked after. She has now moved back to England so cannot give you her Cypriot number to call for more information. Her doctor was Dr. Munur, just before Astro going into Girne from Lapta on the opposite side of the road.

I went to Girne special hospital for an operation on my Leg and hand, excellent treatment, round the clock and follow ups have been excellent as well. My stitch's are perfect and very neat.

Hi Sissy

Had gall stones and gall bladder removed June '06 at a private hospital in Famagusta, hospital named Magusa Yasam. Surgeons name is Dr Mustafa Kalfaoglu. Have only praise for Doctors and nursing staff there. Also had emergency operation in Girne a couple months earlier, treatment opposite end of the scale but I lived to tell the story!!!

Dear Yorkie

We live in england it is such a long waiting for gall stones op, could you please give me an idea how much it would be to go private in cyprus. Much to expensive to go private here. What is the recovery rate like? We have a holiday villa in kyrenia and thought it might be a good idea for my hubby to recover there.

Near East University has had a medical faculty for many years and has now just built and opened a teaching hospital. I am told that it is brilliantly equipped and has collected some very eminent professors from around the world. It must be worth checking out.

The new uni hospital;

Left at Gonyeli roundabout, past secret garden, left at the speed camera's. If you reach the lights by Ataturk stadium you've gone too far.

The uni in Famagusta is Eastern Med (EMU)

Hi Stella,

I did not fly as customs had a problem with my emergency passport and no visa!! they spooked me too much and although they said I could leave I was afraid that they may not let me back in, so I did not fly!! All just been a bit too much for me I think. Which is why I will now have the op here. x Let me know when you ok to meet I can come your way if you know somewhere cool and nice xx

I had mine done in March at the Etik hospital in Lefkosa, they were very good, had a laparoscopy instead of big incision.
