This is basically what was said in the Telegraph article in respect of the Guarantee:

Thousands of British families who bought cheap houses or land in Northern Cyprus were told yesterday that their investments were secure, even if European courts ruled that their property was stolen from Greek owners during the 1974 division of the island.

Ferdi Soyer, the prime minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus - which is recognised only by Turkey - gave a "state guarantee" that their ownership could not be successfully challenged.

The political stand-off between the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus would ensure that court claims were not enforced, he said.

On a visit to London, Mr Soyer said: "There is no chance that they will lose their property. The British people who buy a house or who want to take land in north Cyprus do not be afraid: everything is under our state guarantee."

If it was in the Sun or Star.....then I would take it with a pinch of salt!

The Telegraph is usually on the ball.

Where is the "banned" one...... to pour his scorn on the above ? !!

thats a 2006 article.......3 years old.

To all the Britis home owners in the trnc, please be aware of the following;

Your land will not be taken off of you, and given to greek cypriots. This is purely because gc's would dominate the area, which would not be allowed by the turkish forces.

If anything, they would ask you to pay compensation, and even that is doubtful.

But i can guarantee, just like the government, that your land will not be given back to gc's. That defies the whole point of the trnc.

they just reported what he said.

it means nothing he cannot over rule the eu or uk courts.

as i said before anyone who owns property elsewhere in the eu could be at risk.

how many people fly through larnaca?

if the gc's decide to be difficult then lots of people will have big problems.

the deciding factor will be the orams case if they loose then the flood gates could open.

Cylad. We have the Guarantee, please don't try and use the bailiff ploy-it would never work, under rule 1.

Hattkins, re 14

No it was designed to give you time to think about it - which you apparently didn't ;)

Mark, do I detect some anxiety in your 'lengthy' post? Is something upsetting you?

Smartie Pants, I was not referring to the content of your post, I was merely passing comment on the amount of empty space you had left, why don,t you wind your neck in for a change, I don,t really give a s**t what anyones profile says.

The irony is is that you think you are clever, you are amusing, and sarcastic, but clever, I don't think so. I made a comment about the spacing, nothing else, no ulterior motive, nothing.

You really should get out more you know.

Dear Hattikins, re msg 20

the advice re "winding yer neck in" was most appropriate - if aimed at the right person ;)

My VERY best wishes...
