Cloudy Bay Pelorus New Zealand, Sparkling Wine

Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay

Domaine Huet, Le Mont Vouvray, Loire,

Usually from waitrose , do you know if they stock any of these or similar on the east side ? long shot but you never know

Pipie/Coachie - as our Lilli says, very doubtful you'll get anything like that in TRNC (that's Mr Wick, the wine buff, not me - Vino Collapso for me). Possibly best to stick with the best of what they offer locally. Or, of course, go to Guido's (which is where we will be eating, particularly if we want some decent wine with our meal).

Keep us posted if you have any success please!!

Regards

I have yet to find any real good quality wines in Cyprus as a result usually drink the turkish wines however for a change I do go to catalkoy wine shop and buy some south african wine which seems to range from 8.95 tl upwards.

I am surprised that no-one has mentioned St Hilarion wines, the winery is in Gecitkoy, (not sure of the spelling) this wine is excellent, and very reasonable.

Try the Argentinian Trivento, very quaffable, and reasonably priced as well, especially in the 3ltr wine-boxes.

Nudger.

i have and found it pretty good. i can't figure out why it is not more widely available elsewhere in the world.

I tend to stick to the Turkish wine. Red, Villa Doluca, White, either Cankaya or Nevsah. Here in UK, Faustino 1 a great Rioja. But that's just my taste. Oh sorry Jean just said that I'll actually drink anything, how well she knows me.

Have got to say as much as it grieves me Marks and Sparks in the South do really good wine and about a 3rd of the UK M&S, very surprised at how reasonable it is, have to say usually stick to local wine but sometimes like to have some decent wine in the house and found M&S about the best for sav poullly fume, merlot, cab sav and sance serre.

if you go into lemar most bottles state what type of wine they are and from what region in turkey.

my brother in law had a wine shop in the uk and they will be out in june so i will get him to give his views on the different turkish wines and comparisons to other wines.

he has been around the world on wine tastings so i guess he would be qualified to judge.

Ever wondered why you never see any Turkish wines in Tesco, Sainsburys et al?

How about this for an oxymoron? A good Turkish wine!
