I still receive email with the request to send the article "Property guarantee" (Cyprus Star, with quotes from Deputy Prime Minister Turgay Avci).

So I've reconsidered and made the article available on line for every board member.

=> Find and read, print or download the article here: http://tinyurl.com/datg23

PS. I will not reply to emails re this subject anymore!

RE msg 2, Dryboak (Dryboak? Five years back in time, Eric?): > the TRNC authorities would have made a proper announcement across all broadcast and print media <

=> I agree, Eric. The TRNC Government definitely need someone like you to do its Public Relations. Why don't you contact the Government to offer your valued advice and services?

you get banned every other week,

your comments are the same old rubbish,

give it a rest your comments are never going to change anything so you are fighting a losing battle,

put your hands up and except the fact,

you can get help,

Surely this "guarantee" is what we all signed up for when we bought our "safe" exchange properties. I believed it 6 years ago, but now I feel regardless of speeches or articles from Government ministers, the reality will only be forthcoming when the current solution talks are concluded, referendums held and outcome decided. Then and only then will we know if the status quo prevails or we are all in for a nasty shock in the form of a compensation bill.

Smiffy, I think the vast majority of forum users believe the same as you. when the talks etc are over we will hopefully be aware of what the future holds for all who are native to the island and those of us who wish to be part of it.

The article mentions that Mr O wants Turkey in the EU, but the EU & UN won`t accept them until the troops & some settlers leave, that bit is not in the article but its one of the only ways Turkey will get in...

i think turkey may have other motives regarding the troops here.

everytime hubby goes to the army shop anyone he meets are of kurdish origin.

now knowing the turks dislike the kurds , what better place to make them do national service, cyprus. out of harms way!

Tiggy,

You have no idea who I am. Anyone can call themselves anything on this board and as long as they stick to the rules then good luck to them. The one thing that can earn you a ban is clowning around playing at being two people at once. That's gpt to be sad, right? So why did YOU do it by logging on as Kapparis Kid and Tiggy? Shouldn't YOU be banned as a hypocritical chancer?

Pikey, you lie well. besides your latest name you have at least one other! You are really pi@@ed off because you thougth the KK was going to befriend you as you approached him with if I can remember...." Hello Kapparis Kid, welcome to the forum, are you from the other side" !!! I nearly wet myself, as I knew you would fall for it. How many others have you welcomed to the board??. You have the gall to comment about me.....you will be getting a medal for being banned the most on any forum soon. Have a backbone and take the hint. Sorry if made you look an idiot....again

KK is buried....unlike you.

RE msg 16, DONTY: > why on earth didnt you just offer up this article in the first place dutch? Is it a control thing? <

=> You've asked this question several times in different threads. My remark: you could have had and read the article one week ago when you had shown interest by just emailing "yes". Really, a lot of people did. My second remark: is it your server or mine? Like cyprus44 manager Izzet says "this is my board", I say "it's my server". So I do the work and I make the rules. Not many people here have a problem with my standpoint. If you have a problem - stay away from http://tinyurl.com/datg23 .

I do not think it works like that:

the talks don't matter, it is all over for them

you don't really have any meaningful discussions limp into year two

take the camp david accords where sinai was reunited with egypt,

this was all marked out by officials prior, as is nearly always the case:

the talks were brief very public and confirmed what was already decided

likewise past non-proliferation issues between russia and america

an exception was the 1938 munich agreement where nobody had expected a "positive" result, and a piece of paper was signed

although only because chamberlain was so very desperate to avert a war

the chances of re-unification are getting less each year

as both cypruses continue to diverge, and are hardening their positions

you'd imagine that if the two sides were to agree,

we'd know what the future holds but they thought that in 1960

for stability, my choice would a free and independent trnc

Dear Andre_514

re msg 47

"the talks don't matter, it is all over for them "..

>>>>REALLY ?! ..<<<<

"for stability, my choice would a free and independent trnc"

>>>>Ah, a "leave things as they are" stance.. Well we aren't going to get much "support" for talks from *You*, then ! ..<<<<

" both cypruses continue to diverge, and are hardening their positions "

>>>>Not as *I* see it.. The President of the "rump" RoC and leader of the TCs (and Turkish Nationals who are referred to as "citizens" of "TRNC" ) stand a greater chance of sorting things out, at a local level, than recent players.

Seems to me you are letting you feelings cloud the facts.

msg 48

line 4: yes, really

lines 6/7: as a non-cypriot it would be a bloomin' cheek if I mouthed-off

off either for or against the talks with christophias and his team,

but if I were a cypriot I would've been strongly in favour of talks taking place

line 8: this is your prerogative...

you lived in cyprus while I didn't and you have probably discussed this question with cypriots which I haven't

after all they said the same about eastern germany and it reunited seamlessly with the federal republic...or did it?

so you have a blockaded turkophone north with intimate links to turkey

and a wealthy greek cypriot south with close ties to the european movement

lines 9/10/11:

is zero chance different to zero chance?

as the late professor joad would've said

"it all depends on what you mean by sorting things out"

line 12: yes

how do your feelings influence your selection of the facts?

any unbiased person would neither be "in favour" of reunification nor partition

Sorry, Andre_514,

Your msg 49, is mostly unintelligible :( .. you are welcome to try again...

Picked out this "gem":

"any unbiased person would neither be "in favour" of reunification nor partition"

>>>> Yep, you DO want a situation - where TCs have lots of hurdles re trade, education, etc - to continue <<<<<

Any unbiased person would want a solution that ends that, surely?!

Unless they had a good reason of their own to perpetuate "isolation" ?!

mmmmm,

i often wonder if the trnc does like being isolated?

i can remember a couple of years back when they were stating that the internet was bad for children.

keep the people stupid and you have total control.

let them be educated and you do not.

with lots of tc friends on a day to day basis it is not apparent but every now and again i hear them come out with something unbelievable. then i remind myself i am here in cyprus.

its a two way learning curve.
