hI Laine as far as Im aware the employer gets you the work permit. If you are going to be self employed then you need a buisness permit and thats another story with the costs involved. If you are looking for this type of work then maybe look south side.

lainie - please take a fool's advice and don't rely on finding a job to finance your lifestyle in TRNC. Others on this board know far more about trying to find gainful employment than I do and so I expect you'll be given some sound advice. As Lilli says, your best bet will probably be to try the South, but do take a lot of advice before you decide to up sticks and move here permanently.

Good luck and kind regards.

Hi Laine again. You will get lots of stories about life here both negative and positive. If you want to chat just send me an email. Cold you afford to come for a few months and rent to see if you like it and explore your options. 63 is not old but i beleive they retire a lot earlier than uk. The reason i said go south is because they probably have private nursing homes there which I dont beleive they do here. I only know of one old peoples home which is in a very bad state. If I can help you in any way please contact me xxxxx

Hello Lainie

I too am moving to north cyprus and i am a care team leader who would like to carry on working maybe in the community. I am in the process of doing my NVQ3 which i have no clue if it counts over there, but anyway im going over at the end of the month and going to have a good look around. I know that the hospitals send out nurses to help with the elderly in the community....maybe we can get together and suggest our assistance to them...we'l see. If I come up with anything positive i will let you know and if you wouldnt mind doing the same for me.

Good luck

Jax

Hi there, If you contact Gus at Medicare he might be able to help you as I know he was looking for carers a couple of weeks ago.
