Cant get Windows Media Player because I had a computer built recently and now find that I have a pirate copy of Windows XP. Tried loading an original copy my friend lent me but it was older than the version on there, if that makes sense.

Buffers are typically used when there is a difference between the rate at which data is received and the rate at which it can be processed. If you connection speed is slow you may experience long buffering times or even the inability to recieve.

Spider Go to this site and you can see what speed you are getting compared to what you are paying for. Marmite This can be overcome but it's gonna cost you.

Have never been able to find any free converters that make reasonable copies, so I opted to buy Roxi Creator. There are several version still available and am aware that from version 8 it converts ".wmv" to DVD format. I also believe that Nero does work too.

Msg 3 & 12, marmite > Cant get Windows Media Player because I had a computer built recently and now find that I have a pirate copy of Windows XP. Tried loading an original copy my friend lent me but it was older than the version on there, if that makes sense. < => It makes sense. And the answer is: buy an original copy of Windows XP (home). It's the only way to connect to Microsoft's web site and download Service packs, critical updates etc. The serial number of your Windows version is checked on line and you're refused a download/install connection if you have a pirate copy or a borrowed original (its number is known by Microsoft). Never try to cheat with your Operating System (Windows or Mac) - it'll bounce back on you one day. Only my opinion.

Marmite not sure what else to say. If you want the latest version of windows media player then you will need a personal valid paid for licensed copy of windows (XP or Vista). You can get upto version 9 of WMP I believe without any need to validate your copy of windows. For version 10 and the latest version 11 you will need to validate your copy of windows.

Hi Erolz, tried your recommendation from message 2. Did download, then I had to download codecs, then when it transferred it, it had a watermark, so I had a choice of paying for the upgrade. What did I do, I connected my laptop to my TV ( as I already had the cables) it was p**s easy. No need to spend hours transferring from one format to another. Only problem now is that the picture on the TV is not as good as the laptop, but I know that can't be changed and that the picture is a bit too green (as in the colour, not naive)! Thanks again. PS. PC World (UK) are selling original Windows with Excel, Word, etc, for about £70.
