As we draw closer to the 19th April elections and have the pleasure of watching hundreds of flag waving cars taking to the streets on crusades of support for their prospective new or contiinuing leader, they cause havoc for the fledging tourists trying to get to the restaurant they had made a reservation at and the workers who just want to get home to their families. I would like the political parties to show the voters the carbon footprint left behind during their election campaigns. not just from emmisions but also the litter their followers throw from their windows during the journey. Do these parties have environmental policies, are they realistic, do they get schools and the public sector involved? What are the parties environmental policies? could they be translated into English for the non-voter with interests in environmental issues?

If the parties cared about the environment they would tell their followers to support them and the environment by staying at home during rallies and allowing only the residents from the village they are rallying in to meet the politician and air their views.

I don't believe the TRNC even knows what a carbon footprint is.
