Nothing to do with Cyprus but... A wonderful story doing the newsrounds An Australian cattle dog was washed over board from it's owners boat when they got into difficulties in a bad storm off the Queensland coast. The dog was presumed dead. Five months later the owners get a call from The Rangers to tell them they have found their dog. Apparently the dog had swum five miles through shark infested waters to a deserted island and managed to survive on feral goats. Dog and owners are now re-united Man's best friend... without a doubt... Do you think sometimes animals show us human kind a thing or two? Regards Joseph

Nothing to do with Cyprus ... but A single animal, all alone, surrounded by sharks and a vicious sea, enemies all around, wins through despite the odds, brings everyone back together to share its happiness and survival. This little dog will never write a book or paint a picture... but its story could teach us a thing or two Regards Joseph

Truly a great story and happily re-united with owners. Spare a thought for the poor goats, they were killed for food so the dog could survive. I know mother nature is cruel, survival of the fittest and all that, just sad for the goats.

"This little dog will never write a book or paint a picture" Nope but pound to a penny some bright spark will make a story and a picture about it and make a fortune, as usual.

They'll probably make a film of this story. I can just see it now - JK Rowling to write the script. Spielberg to direct and Tom Hanks to play the part of the dog. As for the goats - make your own minds up ! )

Great story. Should never under estimate animals. They deserve a lot more credit than what they get.

Dogs and Goats? Reminds me of the film 'Sheep Pig'? (I think). Conjures up all sorts of bizarre story lines yet be explored, told and written! Kiwis and Welshmen can opt out of this thread!! Richard ps New Zealand, where the men are men and the sheep are nervous!

Hi Yvonne... Read your other thread earlier re living in a bubble etc but I enjoy reports like this as they help keep things in perspective. My son recently lost his job in Eire, works in Dublin and says things are really tough over there re employment etc so I know how hard it is for you... but I'm with those who wish you the best and just hope stories like this bring a smile and help you along... All the best with your new venture Regards Joseph
