An Ipswitch postman who is accused of stealing some 70,000 mail items today denied it at Ipswitch court. I wonder if thats where some of the mail destained for Mersin 10 has ended up. Did we ever get answers to the trail undertaken to see why mail was not getting through to here. I think the BRS were conducting it.

Another one to be suspended on full pay whilst an enquiry is undertaken. Then he'll appeal, whilst on full pay, and then he'll take early retirement on a very nice little pension...

I think the BRS conclusion of their trial was only 60% got through. Check back editions of Cyprus Today. My prescribed medication sent from the UK by normal post always gets through with green custom slip signed as 'prescribed medication'. Probably why I'm still alive!

Yep, whilst I was investigating the disapearance of 5 parcels that were sent to me all recorded delivery I was informed that they were recieved at my local sorting office, they left the local sorting office on the same van at the same time on the same day, they never made it to my house and a signature was never recieved for any of the 5 parcels. When I asked was the driver under investigation they asked why the parcels went missing in transit. I could not believe this.

99% of any parcels i have from the uk get through and any official letters but as for personal letters etc i haven't had one for 18 months. at christmas although i did receive some cards there were still a lot that never made it.

i had a parcel sent recorded delivery in Jan that never arrived and when the company checked it hadn't left the uk but Royal mail didn't know why or where it was. a 2nd parcel was sent that also never arrived in a month and i was then given a refund. 3 days later the parcel turned up! when i filled in a complaint online to royal mail they wouldn't comment other than to say the sender has to query it! they don't respond to anyone outside the uk! needless to say i have no answers. what has happened about the 'embargoed country' marked letter that was shown in Cyprus Today? nothing further seems to be happening. it's very frustrating when we can't receive our mail.

Brinsley,

As you are retired and show your address as Girne I am a little confused as to how you get prescription medication from the UK? I too take prescription medication but have to purchase it here, so what is the catch or do you take a medication that just can not be purchased here?

reply message 10. All very well that local meds. don't work for you but how do you get your prescription filled without going back? We have to return to UK if we want scrip extended.

I do go back with great regularity however, if you look on your prescription you will see a repeat option. Fill out, friend or relative drops off to surgery, picks up, delivers to chemist, pays, walks to Post Office, puts in jiffy envelope, posts with stamp & customs declaration addressing it to............ MERSIN 10 TURKEY!

Curses!!! Should never have told my doc that I was moving out for good then - he took me off his books so now I am not entitled to NHS care at all. But I really feel pleased that I can keep paying my UK income tax on my pensions just in case I should ever need to be refused any type of care or entry back into the UK.

Just lucky that all the prescription medication I need is available - under a different name - here even if it costs a fortune instead of getting it for free (left UK on 60th birthday and never even got a bus pass - bummer!) back in the UK.

Would still rather be here anyway - the sun has cured lots of ills and I have dropped off 14 Kilos in weight in the last 22 months.
