ISTANBUL - An opinion poll by a think tank called the Political Research Center of Europe has shown that Cypriots have no hope for the ongoing negotiations between Turkish and Greek Cypriot leaders, reported daily Radikal. One thousand people each from northern and southern Cyprus participated in the poll. Sixty-four percent of those from the south and 65 percent of those from the north wished their leaders would come to an agreement, but there were major differences on both sides about the solution.

The "unitary state and central government" idea gets the support of 80 percent of the Greek side. Eleven percent of them would tolerate this solution because of the accord, and 9 percent totally disagree. On the northern side, 48 percent of Turkish Cypriots reject this kind of solution, 33 percent agree on the "unitary state" model, and 19 percent could accept it on behalf of the accord.

The "bizonal and bicommunal federation" choice was supported by 49 percent

'so we decided to take a walk and look at the asparagus and hosteses.'

Thats what I like, getting their priorities right. Not so sure about the asparagus though.

the two sides cannot find any realistic basis for an agreement

as a result there will be no compensation monies freed up for 1974 refugees,

while the isolations will continue for as long as the roc can get away with it

and the opposite of reunification is not no reunification, it is partition

I have been saying much the same thing since ozdil nami talat's special advisor commented last autumn that there existed no basis for a deal

this despite virtual offers from some '44 members to pay off somebody

or other, and exactly for doing what totally escapes me:

one person even alluded I was dishonorable for being so unenthusiastic

and don't jump to conclusions that lack of a so-called "solution" is a bad result,

if cypriots really wanted this they would have agreed one back in 2008

come on mark. you know deep-down it was nothing but a load of old xxxxxxxs

"Do you think I'm Pikey because I share the view of my government AND the vast majority of decent fellow Brits about the Cyprus problem? That's pretty funny."

So Im not a decent fellow Brit ! and who says "the vast majority" another one of your dreamt up statements.

wow turtle and notpikey who would imagine that the vast majority of brits give a flying xxxx about the cyprus background? nice place for a holiday tho'

they do worry about rising prices, housing probs, redundancy, crime, piercings

had a talk with a guy whose sister-in-law has a villa in south cyprus

he is all for their side

another bloke did some snagging for a friend in trnc and sees their viewpoint

like everything in the middle east you pays your money and takes your choice

thanks for the post aj.

after finding out yesterday that in the north are 160,000 voters , i don't think a poll of 1,000 from the north is a fair view.
