Dear all,

We are about to start our "Turkish for Beginners" courses in May. The courses will take place in Girne. We plan to improve speaking and listening skills first, but if demanded, we can also introduce writing and reading as well. We are open to suggestions.

The course schedule will be flexible, but we suggest 1,5 hour lessons twice a week, a total of 3 hours a week, and 12 hours a month. The course days and times will be determined together with the group. And since we don't need a whiteboard, we are not obliged to be stuffed in a classroom; rather we will benefit the good weather and do the lessons in various cafés and/or restaurants.

The fee is 150 TL/month per person. First lesson will be free, so you can decide whether you'd like to stay or leave.

So why not learn and enjoy a bit Turkish, and understand "the buzz"?

You can contact me via e-mail, harun(at)lifelonglearningcyprus.com or 0533 864 2210 for more information and/or registry.

Good luck with this. I have just finished a Turkish for beginners course in the UK. It was enjoyable but not easy, vowel harmony will haunt me forever. I will never be fluent but I'm sure I'll make a few of the locals smile when I try my Turkish out in June.

Hi charb... just a few questions!

What does the course involve - will it be outlined or just at our own pace?

Will workbooks etc be needed and/or provided and would this be extra?

What will group sizes be?

Thanks,

ces88

hi ces88,

I ordered a book from Turkey, I expect it to arrive in a couple of days. If I like the book, I may order, or photocopy, a copy for the participants, too.

There is a course outline for sure, but it will be flexible as well. Actually, it depends on the group, too.

About the group size, we need a group of 4 or 5 at least. But not more than 8.

Hope that helps. And may I kindly ask you to spread the word, please? Thanks in advance!

We have three participants, and we need at least one more to start. Oh, come on! It will be fun!
