Too right, my wife is Russian too and msg no 2 was quite offensive.

Elya, my wife is Tatar, from Almetyevsk, and in the same age group as yourself. We are not in TRNC right now but when we come over I am sure Vinera would like to hook up with you to socialise.

You and your partner would be more than welcome to come to our place for drinks or a chat.

Is it possible to answer a "newbie's" question WITHOUT the "wit".?

It really was a simple question...

It's AMAZING how many ignorant folk still think Russian speaking ladies must be "on the game" or live in night clubs.

Elya - sorry can't help you as we lived in Lima(s)sol in the mainly Greek speaking area of Cyprus.

If you search - in Russian language - you'll find plenty of Russian language forums concerning Cyprus.. there are approx 50, 000 Russian speakers on island - but most live in the "south".

My Russian wife is also the same age as you - we wish you luck - and hope you will get some sensible answers..

Udachi - good Luck

No apology needed for my wife I explained it to her so she could understand it in it's intended context, she has a good sense of humour, her retort was "more to be pittied than scolded"

Dumb me, but please explain 'SoH'. Personally I think, along side the Scandinavians, Russian women esthetically one of the most attractive looking in my globe trotting experiences!

I think we all need to be reminded of the title of this thread and respond accordingly.

This is not a discussion about the attractions of the fairer sex by the way Richard.

Lets try and keep this on topic.

A simple request has turned in to all this BS.

I think Elya-Socha has seen how one or two of the usual suspects have ruined her question. Hope she meets up with some of her country folk.

Time to pull the shutters down on this one..

I dont know anybody else from NZ but if I did I would direct them to you. I hope she mets friends and that in turn will or ma stop her from missing her country. Its hard enough here to make friends let alone your own kind Be Kind xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

To all positive people from these posts I would like to say thank you so much. My wife and I are hoping to move soon to Girne but she is a little worried about being lonely and not being able to make friends, in case you haven't guessed she is russian and I am delighted that these posts will make her feel more comfortable with the move.

Elya, I am sure that she would like to get some feedback from you about moving and it is fresh in your mind so if you wouldn't mind could you either post your e-mail or send me a mail at proger1@hotmail.com and I will pass it on to her.

Proger1, hi my wife and I have a place in Alsancak, we lived where you are now and also Sharjah and RAK, My wife is Tatar (Russian) brought up in Kyrgyzstan and we moved the family back to Tatarstan a few years ago. Anyway my Mrs is feeling the same as yours, looks as though it should not be a problem for either of them. Take it you are looking at the TRNC for the same reasons as us tired of the visa issues all of the time.

A little complicated Mike but yes on the visa front, I work out of Doha now and sponsorship to stay in Dubai is through the wifes company sponsor but now I've gone and screwed it all up by getting her pregnant so when she stops working we have to go and Cyprus is the best place I can find to get what she wants, in fact I wish I had thought about moving a few years back. Dubai is a nightmare now and isn't likely to get any better soon and Cyprus reads like the place I always wanted. Sounds like the beauracracy can be awkward but I have dealt with Arabs for seven years and I haven't killed anyone yet

I know that feeling after we left the Middle East we lived in Kyrgyzstan with the red tape there no problem, a few dollars and everything was smooth. Russia a different proposition they go by the book now and have done for a while it gets difficult. Can't conform to the UK rules as you know with being a contractor so Northern Cyprus seems to be the ideal solution just keep getting the yearly visas for the wife and rotate in and out to work, job Done. My Mrs loves the TRNC she already speaks Turkish so she has an advantage over me. She loves the sea and the mountains, then again she loves the Malls in the UAE too.
