Are the tourism figures in Northern Cyprus looking healthy in 2009 due to the dodgy Euro, anyone have any projected figures,

RE msg 1, dodger: > "Dodgy Euro" <

=> 40 years ago: 1 GBP = 10.60 Dutch Guilders (about 5 Euros). Today: 1 GBP = about 1 Euro.

"Dodgy" = 1: chiefly British : evasive, tricky. 2: chiefly British a: not sound, good, or reliable b: questionable, suspicious.

One of us cannot count, I'm afraid...

I feel that there is a slight increase in the number of tourists compared to 2008.

With the exchange rate so low, might keep people away.

So where is everyone going this year then, surely Turkey and Egypt will be cashing in.It just seemed like a perfect opportunity for Northern Cyprus to pick up on the tourists that usually holiday in Spain,Canaries etc, especially with the Euro being in such a state,

Paul.

many in the UK are holidaying in the UK, there are many great places to go and visit and they are not litter strewn.

Paul msg 12

The number of customers who can afford to holiday or buy anything but for basics is reducing by the hour and many of those who can are putting their money away.

This does not include the very rich who can find far more exclusive, interesting and luxurious places to holiday or goods to buy.

Dear Rowlo, re msg 15

Sorry to burst your "bubble ( sic) - but as you are the one claiming PIKEY was a propagandist ...

some FACTS:

1/ Banks - the RoC banks have been REAL smart.. they didn't advance 100% loans - the deposits required were 40% for a second home and 20% for a new one = also they didn't really do unsecured loans. So bad debt not such an issue.

2/ Tourism - without Doubt down the pan - and not just the Euro to blame.... this will not necessarily be "TRNCs" gain... folk will either stay at home or go to TR or Egypt..

Much revenue comes from folk from RoC spending money in the north - long weekends,Casinos etc. Your apparent "pleasure" will not be reflected by TC hoteliers.

3/ Jobs - downturn in construction in the "rump" RoC bad for TC workers

Do you always think things through so methodically ?

Wether you convert your pound into euros or t/l which ever way you do it it comes out the same believe me i have gone through every conversion to get the best rate. Flights are expensive wether you go North or South and whilst you have small minded people like Rowlo putting insignificant messages on the forum it will only put people off. Whilst there are a lot of nice people who use the forum as a place to gather information you will always find the small minority will always put the majority of people off useing a forum like this.

Yes Rowlo before you say it I do have a house in the south but i also have one in Kyrenia where i want to open a business up in the next few weeks but reading your stupid post you are certanly giving me second thoughts

"a small minded paddy like you"

Is that the best you can do to counter the well reasoned arguments and responses of mmmmmm.....who has a wealth of experience on both sides of the Green Line?

By all means counter what he says if it doesn't suit your view.....but don't resort to childish and bigotted name calling.

Rowlo - message 17.

Again, take your bloody blinkers off!

Your posts smack more and more of "desperation". I asked you yesterday how long you had been acquainted with TRNC and your answer was, I believe "long enough" . So, how long is long enough?

Perhaps you should listen to those who know a little (lot) about the situation more than your goodself.

rd steve - very well spoken.

Errr....it was the Easter weekend Blackpoolfan !

Even Blackpool is busy at this time.

What will the occupancy be like in May and June.

I'm not having a pop....it's just that all this talk of Brits holidaying at home seems like wishful thinking on behalf of the English Tourist Board.

Cronos,

msg 19.....please refrain from getting involved. Mr mmmmmm recently referred to me as "Paddy" my name is Patrick. I did not take the bait at the time and let it go.

You also did the same and got involved in my spat with now known as "Jason and the Arguments" telling me to do this and not to do that. My advise to you is, if it is not you someone is typing too.....then keep your snout out. No doubt the other couple will not be able to restrain themselves and get involved.

Maybe it is you who is blind. As i said i Have a place in the south but also one in Kyrenia like yours mine are both paid for. I have the best of both worlds what i said was i am not sure wether to expand my business to the north when i see idiots like you not reading through the messages people write on this forum before you respond. my message is one case and message 16 is another. Before you respond to this message put your hand up your backside and put your brain in gear then we might get something sensible out of you but i think there is a better chance of a pig flying.

North Cyprus is certainly not paradise. Take a look at the threads on face book with all those pictures reminding you of what the builders rubbish and litter looks like. Take a pram through Girne and remind yourself why it is not going to attract families to holiday there. This is the reality yet when ever someone says anything negative (but true) about the TRNC we have the same old voices running to gang up and insult or ridicule the poster?

Some of the posters must be living in la la land. They cannot dispute what many are saying so simply diversify by name calling and accusing people of being GC symphathisers. Sad really as they show everyone how little they truly know about the TRNC and how desperate they are to distort the truth rather than face it head on.

Only way to bring it to your attention. You poked your nose in the other week. Otherwise I'd have no interest in engaging with a brown nose like you.

Keep up the good work with back slapping your banned mate and backing the forum disruptors.

Tiggy.....you poor deluded fool.

This paranoia does you no favours.

In your own feeble mind it suits your purpose to imagine a Board full of GC sympathisers/propagandists.......this maybe helps you divert from some of the painful truths about property issues in TRNC.

I'm sure you will continue to try and discredit other posters rather than presenting any hard facts or evidence yourself.

As I said....take your own advice and don't respond to me unless "I am typing to you"

The majority of members on this Board have the intelligence to see through your empty nonsense and form their own opinions about issues in the TRNC.

Silly man. load of crap you type. Cyprus should be one country and hopefully one day it may happen. I have no property issues.

I see your mate came straight out of his coffin.....tell him the KK has told me to say hello to it, and is sorry for making him look an idiot. So as you say no need to be in touch anymore. Hope you get the brown stuff off your nose.

re msg 29 Tiggy

"Mr mmmmmm recently referred to me as "Paddy" my name is Patrick. I did not take the bait at the time and let it go. "

Patrick - please accept my apologies - if you remember I *asked* you if I could call you "Paddy".. I guess I should have wait for permission.. It is the "tender name" for Patrick", no..? No offence was intended.

re msg 17, Rowlo

"no one who has purchased in kktc , takes any notice of a small minded paddy"

many thanks for your lucid, well reasoned, response concerning the "doomed" "rump" RoC..

BTW.. Did you mean "Paddy" - as in Patrick? In which case I must inform you my name is Mark

or

"Paddy" as in some sort of reference to my nationality? Most Ulster "proddies" aren't generally referred to as such - unless by someone who knows little about Ireland.. or may be they mean to be "rude" . I can't believe the latter...

Do I detect a common denominator ref your historical knowledge of islands? ...

I hope any prospective tourists give this forum a miss, whatever will they think about the *natives* attitude.

I love the place and have been coming here for over 15 years, we have bought our house here and are more than happy with our lot, BUT, there are areas that are littered and dirty, there is little for families with children to do apart from the beaches, many of which are now getting very expensive, that is the reality of TRNC.

Denying these facts will not make things better, instead of fighting between ourselves perhaps we should use our energies to persuade the tourist board that these problems need addressing.
