For the last few days I have tried to log on to Turk Bankasi with the idea of sending money to my acount over there before leaving for TRNC next week. The website appears to have been out of action for maintenance.

Last night I finally managed to log on, to be advised that my customer number had changed, and to enter the site with my new number, and then change my password and keyword. So far so good!

After doing as advised, I then logged in to check my accounts, only to find it telling me that I hadn't any Bank accounts!!!

I have tried to email the English rep (Justina) at Karakum branch to check that my accounts are still there, but my mail is being returned as non delivered.

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Andrew

I too have (or had) Internet banking with Turk Bank. It has been down for 2 weeks now & from the info., I have managed to receive from TB it will be down for another month for some facilities.

This is quote from an email I received from TB on 08/04/09.

"Earliest possibility is may be tomorrow with only browsing, buy/sell currency and money transfer between accounts. No, bill paiments and credit card menues yet. Bill paiments may be next 15 days and credit card almost a month."

I'm sorry to say this, but I consider this to be apalling customer service. I too have lost all my accounts details, except those for the credit card (no detail).

As a result of this debacle I shall be closing all my accounts with Turkbank in the very near future.

After 7 years of banking with them, this is the last straw.

Hi all Guido went to check today and after the shock of being told we dont have any accounts even though a lot of our customers pay us by credit card which goes straight into TB. He was told because its a joint account to ring 03924443333 to give you new details.Well here goes xxxx

I managed to log in last night for my wife's account. I noted the new customer number and had no problem logging in with the new customer number and the new password but same old security code.

Then I moved on to do the same thing with my account and this time it asked me for a new security code. I did not want anything to be different from my wife's account (poor memory with old age is the reason) so I re-entered my old security code which upset the computer and in effect told me to get lost. So when I find the time I will have to give them a ring and reactivate my account.

I'm pleased it's not only me. beginning to think that hackers had sabotaged my accounts.

Arry,

She'd better not have spent it all, otherwise it will be bread and water until I get out there with replenishment.

Spoke to her an hour ago, she was having a Party round at our place. Heard lots of voices in the background, hope all the Efes that was flowing wasn't paid for from my savings account!

Where in the world would a bank dare tell its customers "We're off line for an unknown time - because we're updating the system."? Here. In TRNC. Where would a bank dare to do it without warning customers via email, text message, snail mail, pigeon or whatever? Here. In TRNC. I can understand a lot here, in TRNC, but this is the limit. It's plain stupid not to update a system on a separate server. And not a word of excuse. Bl**dy h*ll, I'm really f*cked up.

They are just alligning the internet service with the service you get in branch, somewhere between pathetic and unprofessional.

A friend of mine was told that the system is killed by a very bad virus - a Trojan...

Does anybody know more about that???

Let's hope it wasn't a 'Trojan Horse'!

Wouldn't be too helpful during the 'Negotiations'!

RE msg 13, Kantara > A friend of mine was told that the system is killed by a very bad virus - a Trojan... <

=> The "official reason" is "system update". But I wouldn't be surprised at all if the clumsy (*) IT department didn't run any anti-virus software and got their servers infected.

(*) Clumsy, because they developed a site that only works for Windows and not for Macintosh. And I just checked: STILL not working for Mac, so Mac users are forced to run Windows on their Mac or use a Windows emulator. Ridiculous.

I think if they find out that one of their personal was telling the truth on the phone she/he has to leave very soon....

There was the rumour before that the system is not very safe...

I still hope is is only a rumour...

Same sequence of events and problem as suntanman.

Emailed einfo@turkishbank.net on Tuesday morning (14th April) but no reply.

Very concerned as the only messages I get from the secure bank site say "you do not have sight deposit account" and "Account totals 0,00TL Please inform your branch about undesired transaction accounts ".

Question is, has someone found a way past security and cleaned out the bank?

Even the debits are in RED! Too many, I'm afraid.

Still too much in Turkish, but Yavaş Yavaş.

Good luck.

Logged on yesterday, given new customer number. Discovered i had no accounts! On ringing bank helkpline problem solved. Apparently on the 'upgrade', the new customer number is for individual use, if you have joint accounts the bank needs to link them to the customer number. took them about 3 hours to sort, now nolonger skint and have retreived my monies.

Now I am totally locked out of internet banking, tried to reset everything again and none of my passwords were recognised.

Advised to ring customer services......

internet banking, a 24 hour service, why can't the customer services operate the same?

Don't they know that people work 'office hours' and haven't access to a phone to make international calls at these times.

RE msg 22, suntanman > Now I am totally locked out of internet banking, tried to reset everything again and none of my passwords were recognised. <

=> Same here. Tried the new password twice (it was accepted when I had to change it) - got this warning: "One more time the wrong password and your account will be disabled". So I'll go to the bank this morning and try to sort it out. Is it proper English to say that I'm angrier than angry..? What a mess.

Well, then. I went to the bank and spoke to Customer Representative Lynda Roy (Karaoglanoglu). She's a very nice, helpful lady and deserves better bosses than she's got now. She wasn't informed either about the problems, but thought that "the System" had crashed (again?). Her phone call to the head branch in Nicosia didn't help either.

===> This is it for me. Bye bye, Türk Bankası.

Half an hour later I was lucky enough to meet some representatives of CreditWest Bank in the Pegasos and I made an appointment for Monday to become a new customer. This bank offers the same services and more.

PS. I've asked around amongst British expats and I have not heard *one* bad remark about CreditWest.

Yesterday, Digiturk programmes all became subscription only,-this morning phone was off,-went to Turk Bankasi, Direct Debits hadn't been paid, - Digiturk for 2 months, phone for 1 month,- don't yet know about electricity!

This is not the first time, so closed accounts immediately.

Turk Bank follow-up.

Wow! Suddenly a technician in Lefkosha thought it a good idea to call me and give me a new password (via text message). Tried it. => Response on screen: "Internet banking usage is not activated at this account. Please call 0392 blahblah." Yeah. Türk Bank? Amateurs and a mess.

And why is Internet banking not available for Macintosh users? "That's a management decision". Oh, is it?!
