Found this funny video,

I was wondering if many people know much in the way of speaking Turkish?

I use the google translate service for emails, but i know the translations are often way off!

Much to the amusement of the people i send the emails too.

Found the video very funny. My husband and I have been attending Turkish classes here in UK - it's a very difficult language to learn!! Still, it should give the locals a laugh when we try to make conversation

Jean, do you find it easier to write it than saying it?

Bill - to be perfectly honest with you, I don't find any of it "easy". I seem to have picked up the pronunciation better than Paul, whilst he is much better at the grammar. Should be OK if we always go everywhere together

Kind regards.

I could not bother to click on the link until Jock's comment. I knew what to expect and I was not wrong but curiosity got the better of me anyway

By the sound of your code name one assumes you originate somewhere north of Hadrian's Wall?! Is it just deers and grouse you seem enamoured with, lacking in any ability to humorously flirt with the opposite sex? The video was fine and funny, thank you petez.

C'on Richard, I think Jock has a very good sense of humour. I enjoyed his prank.

petez- I notice we are both located East Anglia & Alsancak. I don't know about you but we do not get to practice our Turkish much in East Anglia, so I can't wait until June to try it out.

We have a local kebab/pizza house owned by Turkish Cypriot family, my husband said thank you to them once in Turkish, they were thrilled to bits !

Only problem now is we rarely use it because they add so many free extras to our order we cannot possibly eat it all.

Hattikins - same here - nowhere else to practice the Turkish language though; East Anglia is not known for its NC/Turkish communities

Agree with you - they always seem delighted when you try out a few words - even if the pronunciation isn't perfect.

How's the packing going??

Best wishes

Hi Jean,

Well under way with the packing now, must admit I've uttered a few swear words in both english and turkish while I've been doing it. Leave for TRNC May 15th, we can't believe it;s actually happening after all this time. Hopefully we can get together for a drink when you're over there, we live very close to your place.

Cheers

Hatti

RE message 19

Hi the-wicks...

Some of the farmers in East Anglia are more difficult to understand in English than some people are in Turkish!

Message 22 - Hatti - good luck with the move and yes, it would be lovely to get together. We are over on 7 June so hopefully you will be settled in by then.

Message 23 - petez - make you absolutely right there. Not sure which is the most difficult to understand, Norfolk or Suffolk!
