I think lots of posters on here need to take lessons in the above...I have never read such appalling grammar or spelling and some of the worst even have the audacity to claim they are lecturers. This is not aimed at anyone other than the British!!

Google Chrome has a spell checker, although dyslexic's find a spell checker hard to use, I am an authority on this as my Son is Dyslexic, also a spell checker doesn't check grammar and punctuation but it's a start! Here is the download.

Dee - couldn't agree with you more, but you do realise that you'll probably receive comments along the lines of "what does it matter that I can't spell/punctuate/use correct grammar" etc. etc. and ask you why you don't have anything better to do than pick up on such things.

I'm speaking from experience, by the way.

Hope you're both well.

J

PS I do appreciate that suffering from dyslexia is a different matter.

Dyslexia has to be one of the most frustrating things, however seeing as though my Son got straight A's in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, most of them are very clever.

Dee,

You are correct, when I look at some of the posts I have typed I cringe.

I would not make the same mistakes with my work so why do it on here?

I agree with deecyprus4, mistakes do happen when typing quickly however, with the 'ABC spell check' there is no excuse for some of the howlers that crop up with unacceptable frequency. I refer to Hans, though multilingual, rarely makes an error in what is his second language, English! Not a good example for those others whose first language is not English and may use this forum to self improve their English. You Poms, set an example please!! Otherwise I'll start communicating in Maori!

I don't think it's necessarily spelling that's the problem, rather some posts are difficult to understand altogether! Some give a good chuckle though.

ROBnJO yes I probably did but that was a genuine typing error, I am also guilty of not putting an apostrophe in all the time, I do that for speed and because most on here wouldn't know the difference anyway .... I can spell, use proper punctuation and my grammar is quite good..and I love the funny posts..No1Doyen take a bow..that made me chuckle.

J..I know I am in for some criticism but I can take it...I like to stir things up now and then

Would not do for us all to be perfect would it. Must have some illiterate,un-educated little men like me that she can poke fun at.Yet she is not averse to the odd howler every now and then."Those who live in glass houses"springs to mind...

Apparently in Exam's in England now, it does not matter if you can not spell etc., so maybe we need to be re-educated !!!

Dee

It isnt mis-spelling.

It is the difference in speed of the brain and speed of the fingers. Followed by the fact that not many people take the time to check their messages. I have to because there is often a huge time lapse on brain to fingers!
