Don't forget - those of you who can get BBC News 24 can go interactive ( red button) and watch Live practice, qualifying and the race

You don't need to have a 4.2m in Cyprus- a 1.8 m should get you BBC News 24

I watched practice on my laptop courtesy of the BBC. Button fastest with Hamilton second after 3rd practice session.

The race should be shown on TRT1.

Not without using a VPN service to make it appear like your PC is in the UK. There are lots of companies offering VPN services at a range of prices. I personally have been using one provided by mmmmmm for the last 10 days or so and it works well to date.

VPN is a virtual private network.

Traditionaly used to connect remote computers to private company networks, through the internet. You create a 'tunnel' through the internet from yopur computer to the VPN server. The VPN server then connects you out to other networks, either a private one or the general internet. As far as sites visted go you look as if your location is that of the VPN server and not your actual machine, thus fooling sites like the bbc iplayer site.

Cost is variable but in the region of 8-10 pounds per month.

Set up is pretty simple and involves using functions built into windows to set up a VPN connection. You then connect first to the internet, then to your VPN, then you can access any sites that require you to be in the UK.

Personally I find using a VPN a good solution. I can watch a whole range of UK based TV, live and 'catch up', can order games online that were problematic via an non UK connection

and use other UK limited services like spotify.

Just to be clear I have got a 'relationship' with mmmmmm whereby I help him with local support for his VPN service in exchange for the service for my own use, so my recommendation of his service is not totaly 'independant'. Having said that I can say the service he offers is working well to date. There are of course many other VPN providers one could use.

You do need a decent local connection to watch streaming video. I would say 1meg at least and a 1meg that can provided a sustained througput. If you download the content first then local connection speed and throughput are less of an issue.

There are also issue if you want to get the content available via a VPN from your comptuer screen to a big TV screen. There are ways of doing this but you will need to be able to connect the pc to the TV one way or another.

Hi !

if anyone wants to TRY it - you can over a 48 hour period - just email me

New things you can do with the VPN - remember - !"all" it does is make you look like you are in the UK...

1/ Watch SKY TV - movies / sports - if you are a SKY subscriber - even if in CY

2/ Record SKY tv - if you have a SKY plus and you're not at home

Digiturck now seems to have sorted out their initial problems in showing F1.

TRT1 on ch 21 is showing Qualifying tomorrow morning, about 9am and the race on Sunday at a similar time. This channel is available on the basic package so if you have Digiturk then you have this channel

Ok so it's all in Turkish but I can live with that .

Thanks sideways..

So we can expect to see the Brawns running 1 and 2 - if they can get off the start line, as all in front will have to top up first.

It is interesting to note that the Ferraris and Mclarens are well tanked up.

Timo Glock should be scything his way through the tailenders.. poor Murray Walker..Timo was his outside bet

So, the Red Bulls are the class of the field in the wet, and NO double diffuser !!

Lewis thought it was a rally - so much off road - and Timo Glock DID well to come from the back - Well done Murray Walker - for tipping him ;)

Sideways,Where did you get the weight information from? I tried everywhere as i need it to get the right bet on.However i did bet on Red Bull because of their wet weather performance and won a big £3 of my son.

Blimey,Sideways why didn,t i think of that one? The BBC have been showing the weights on teletext but not this week? I thought the start was a bit boring but i,m sure the drivers thought different.

Hi Rigsby re msg 32

BORING.. what could be "boring" about the start? !

Your beloved "Fiats" couldn't even stay on the track following the Safety Car ;)

Remind me, please .. How many points does the Red team have?

Very SAD day when the legal rep for Ferrari calls their former guru " an arrogant man" ... re the Diffuser appeal last week... "SORE losers" come to mind :( ..

The team in red seem to REALLY miss his guidance and strategy decisions on race day.

It's good for F1 to see the big boys "humiliated" ... let's see how they respond...

Surely it can't "rain in Bahrain" ?

Also good to see that at least the top six cars are built in Milton Keynes (Red Bull), Brackley (Brawn) and Woking (Maclaren),....

Selected others:

Renault: Enstone UK.

Williams: Grove UK.

Force India: Silverstone UK

Lets hear a big cheer for British engineering and expertise!
