From UK, we have had very few Christmas cards, one birthday card (opened before it arrived) and no mother's day cards.

But letters from HMRC arrive (wrongly addressed,no postcode) in 4-6 days!

So that's how to get your mail delivered asap.

I always tell my family and friends to post any mail to us in a brown envelope with a typed address. Works every time.

MSgarnet, you must have led a sheltered or fortunate life if you have never heard of HMRC or had a letter from them sometime, 'tax code' etc.

Perhaps you' ve been away from UK since they were plain Inland Revenue.

Blimey - how could I not have recognised that - tee hee - mea culpa.....yup - there is one on my table as we speak - wouldn't mind, but it is for someone who hasn't lived here for years - and I KEEP ringing/writing to them, to tell them that - but they "cannot discuss someone else - Data protection"........don't want to discuss, just want them to stop sending threatening letters to MY home address!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought the problem was in UK re post as like Rick we no longer receive cards posted from UK, but recently I airmailed from Girne post office, a birthday card to my son in Australia - it did not arrive. As he got engaged on his birthday I sent them 2 engagement cards (one from my daughter, one from me), both posted airmail from Girne post office, neither arrived!!!

I tell people to only send me recorded delivery now from the UK and is working so far! I also send recorded delivery from here, bit more expensive but you can track it & it works!

The only thing that ever arrives in TRNC sent from UK is when I send a load of magazines, paper rate. This means, they are rolled up and just have the brown address wrapper holding them together round the middle.........presumably as it can be seen they are just English magazines, and nothing else, is why they reach Alsancak untouched.
