I love short stories. The shorter the better. But I also like to understand them. Am I the only one on this board who wonders what your lovely short story is about?!

It is about the man who died after an incident in London during the G20 summit. He was an innocent bystander on his way home and was needlessly attacked by the police causing him to have a heart attack, hope this as enlightened you!

And so he should !

I'm all for our police officers battering the work-shy soap dodgers who are attacking/provoking/spitting at them......but this guy was walking away and was no threat to anyone.

You can bet your life, that if Ian had been wearing a pinstripe suit when passing,he wouldnt have been killed. Seems the police force now is just for the establishment. Also see the the film of that big policeman hitting the little woman, good to know protestors are punished so severely, unlike criminals.

Surely there are tests to weed out bullies at recruitment.

By the way, one wonders at the real reason for bringing out so called" anti terrorist" legislation that forbids the filming/photographing of policemen. Filming the two actions would be a criminal offence.

The first post mortem on Ian Tomlinson, which found he died of natural causes, was conducted by a forensic pathologist once disciplined about his professional conduct by the General Medical Council.

t has emerged that the doctor had previously been reprimanded by the GMC after he released medical details about a man who died controversially in police custody.

In a second case police dropped a criminal investigation after the pathologist gave it as his opinion that the victim, a woman, had died of natural causes. A man who lived in the flat where the body was found went on to murder two other women and mutilate their bodies. He was not disciplined over that case.

One source expressed surprise that Mr Tomlinson's initial post mortem was referred to Dr Patel rather than the Forensic Pathology Services, a body of nine independent forensic pathologists, which usually deals with suspicious deaths in London and the home counties.

A senior medical source told The Daily Telegraph th

I wonder how many PMs this pathologist has carried out and shown that the deceased had died of natural causes? when in fact, it could be quite the opposite - why is he still practising? Many questions remain unanswered however whatever the findings of the IPCC should this pathologist still be working?

The footage of Ian Tomlinson walking nonchalently away from any of the action, minding his own business ,then being forcefully shoved to the ground was quite appalling. With cctv installed everywhere you walk, mobile phone cameras and media photographers about nothing can be covered up now and we are being shown, on the television, what happens when you go to one of these demos. I see that a third complaint has been referred to the IPCC - no details coming through on BBC as yet but I wonder what the footage will show there.

It must be very frustrating to face a huge protesting crowd but their training to deal with these situations, should have shown on the day - not this rumble

The officer concerned had covered up the numbers on his uniform to avoid identification. That must be a matter on which his superiors must be questioned. They are condoning , in this sad case manslaughter , or is it murder if you go out knowing you are going to commit a crime and try to avoid recognition?????????

My husband was a met officer, in fact the first Turkish Cypriot in the met. He has been punched, kicked spat at, very badly burnt and a few other things and I can say now if I had a couple of thousand hooded pissed up louts charging at me I would certainly take out my asp and defend myself. I am sick to death of all the media screaming about this. Two days later a police officer was run down and killed by someone escaping capture, his death was a couple of inches reported in the paper.

Hi Rocking . It does'nt make it right though . While i do agree that policing it is a thankless dangerous job . They are trained professionals and know the implications and dangers of the job before hand . I accept they have a lot to contend with all the violence and aggression against them { not acceptable by any standards } But on this occasion , and from the footage i saw . It did'nt look to me that he was p****d or charging anyone .

Regards , Simbas

I know it doesn't make it right that this man died, but after watching the video it just didn't sit right with me the way he was acting, if you are in the middle of a full on riot, and there is a row of police in full riot gear with dogs barking would you take a slow wander just a few feet in front of them, if you watch the footage it seemed strange to me, it looked like he was going for a Sunday stroll. If it were me I and had nothing to do with what was going on I would have had my head down and walking as fast as possible to where I had to go.

From what I saw yes the policeman did give him a good push, but in a healthy man that would not have killed him.
