Hi All, flying out tomorrow arrive at night, just want to know if the exchange shops are open on Sunday.

Looking forward to getting around most of the resturants and meeting some of the characters.

Hi Brian - as far as we are aware, money exchange shops in the main part of Girne (High Street area) may be open, but you will not get such a good exchange rate that some of the others offer.

Have a good flight.

Hi The-Wicks, many thanks for that, I just need to change a small amount for a bit of shopping and can sort the rest out in the week. Counting the hours down, just trying to get her in-doors to decide which wardrobe to bring,

Any of the shops or restaurants will accept just about any currency going (except Scottish Pounds for some obscure reason...) just make sure that you ask the rate FIRST, and if you don't get the right answer, move on - you should aim to get around 2.38/2.39 to the GBP, going on today's rate.

The GOOD places would actually give you better than that - if they were open!

Of course, it might all change tomorrow...

Keith.

On Sundays all exchange shops are closed where the best rates are offered. Change up minimum amount for your needs on your day of arrival in hotels or better still in the supermarket. If you're on the CTA, LHR flight, 18th April I'll give you a loan in TL until the following Monday.

By the sound of your code name you are Scottish?! Do NOT bring Scottish sterling notes here as you'll be unable to exchange them.

Richard, you are correct, but I have been away for so long I would't know what they looked like.

Have a good time out there and enjoy.

Most of the supermarkets will change money for you at the going rate.

Is the shop by the Dome still giving the best rate? I have never been able to find 'The Hut' on the main road.

Try just after Deniz plaza driving towards Girne, on the right hand side, next to a massive garage looking car wash

laptagal,

In front of the row of shops where Woody's used to be (Great big satellite dish on roof!) DVD shop at one end, Indian restaurant and an Aluminium window shop at the other.

The Hut does car hire and currency exchange

Changed me a 50 lira note for 2x20's and 1x10 the other day - No Commision!

Keith.

RE: Message 12.

Hi Keith

Are you describing the location of 'The Hut'? I've been to NC a few times and never know where to exchange money. Is this the best place you think?

LoopyLoo,

Yes, that's where the 'Hut' is.

Not used them myself (except for getting them to give me some small change) but Nigel usually quotes their rates, so I would assume that they're good - he's quite clued up (I was going to say 'canny', but thought better of it! )

As I live here all the time, I just draw Lira out of the bank - lazy, I know...

Are there any ATM's near Lapta that I can use a Nationwide Flex account card to withdraw money? I have used it previously on holidays and they always give a good rate.

Thanks

Re: Message 14.

Thanks Keith. So, can you explain the location better for me. I don't know 'Woodys'. Is it in Girne, which road? Thanks.

Alsancak,

about 12 Km west of Girne, LHS of main road, look out for the huge dish on the roof!

Keith.
