Good evening all

When we were over in the TRNC before Easter we were told that Kibtec required a 800ytl deposit when changing name on the bill from developer into

our own.

I have been on our owners forum tonight and someone has posted that Kibtec have reduced the deposit amount to 280 ytl

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Thanks in anticipation

Why bother changing it?

If you have electric,leave it.

Why do you worry about this? Our electrci bill is still in the name of the landowner 7 yrs on. Who cares as long as the bill is paid. Also know people who have landlines in the name of the previous owner.

This is not the UK. You need to get your Cypriot head on.

The problem will arise if the developer does not pay his bills on another property.

In my understanding from working around this problem ourselves, if one site or residence is cut off then all others in the same name are cut off too. Unless that is someone can tell me otherwise.

I think the deposit is around 960TL for foreigners or 280TL if you can get a local to be your guarantor.

When we was out in March it was about 850TL and 280TL if you had a local to to be your guarantor we were lucky we had one he was our car hire person we have used him for all the times with have been out to NC it shows it pays to stay with the same people and we will all ways be grateful.

It is unfortunate that a lot of Brit expats do not understand the benefits of integrating into the local community. Not only are the TC's lovely people but can and are willing to help when you have a problem. All those Brit expats that remain insular have only got themselves to blame when they encounter problems.

I am sure that for many people the point of paying for this transfer is either the penultimate happy divorce from your developer or ultimate if you have your Kocan.

Yes the price reduction is correct as of a few days ago. However the 840YTL amount still applies if the property is rented out.

Yes, the price reduction is correct, but the higher amount still applies if the property is going to be rented out.

So I need to make friends with a local when I come out to get me keys so that I only have to pay TL280. The Taxi operator sounds like a good bet!!

Sweetpea/Is this information from Kib-Tek as we were there yesterday and were told that it was 840tl for non citizens/non rental or 280tl for citizens.

Dear Scruff

Beware Kibtec were in Arapkoy a couple of months ago and cut everyone off that had not changed their electric bills to their names, although they were paying their bills, 19 in total. It is 227tl to change name and 850tl deposit, this we paid last month.

If your buying an apartment on a complex its better to get your own meter, and have the communual stuff on a seperate meter, (we are trying to sort this out now) and definately worth trying to get sponsered by a TRNC citizen as saves you about 600TL
