Just to make you all aware, there is no alcohol allowed to be sold before 6pm this evening. Therefore if you go for lunch or go shopping, you shouldnt be able to purchased any. I actually had the police confirm this.

It was in the paper yesterday (Cyprus Today) and I asked a police friend of mine who confirmed this. I know of a few establishments have had a visit, not us though!! But there will be alot of police around checking today. Unfortunatley we will loose alot of money today!!! It was the same last election day, so I'm told.

Do you believe all you read in Cyprus To-day. The guy that issues the licences says you can sell alcohol, I think it may just be in 'polling stations'!

For those who wish to get round this dilema, just up your prices for the day and give the alcohol away free...simples as the meerkat says

I've actually asked a police friend of mine who confirmed everything and police have been around visiting establishments telling bars etc that alcohol is NOT ALLOWED to be sold. Shops are the same

I was told, in a restaurant last night, that this no alcohol rule only applied to Turkish Cypriot voters, not the rest of us who can't vote.

That reminds me of when I was working in U.A.E during Ramadan

they allowed alcohol to be sold in international hotels to Westerners

in what they euphemistically called "The Bridge Club" But no Arabs,

Asians or anyone else, even if they were Christian!
