If you Google Dreambox, you will get over 9 million results - the first (non-paid-for) of which, is: -

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreambox - it's all there...

Goldwing,

Could you tell me how your system is set up?

Do you use a router and if so what model is it ,as I have heard it has to be a special one for 3G. We want to connect to a laptop wirelessly so would require a router.

Many thanks,

Moonrakers

Hi Moonraker

My setup is via a crossover cable so not using a router, so the setup was harder

had to ICS the network card did IP 192.168.0.1 set the dns IP to 192.168.0.2

and the subnet to 255.255.255.0 gateway and nameserver to 192.168.0.1 on the dbox and it worked but have not gone further with this

ICS = internet connection sharing

open network connection then properties then sharing this is Vista setup so do not know what you are running but I hope this helps

mine is via a laptop so just tried to see if it worked when the ? was asked

Hi Spud1

If this was set for Hotbird then all the encryption codes have gone

get someone to change the direction of the dish to nilesat and scan for free to air channels there are about 20 english language ones

Hi Spud1

Sorry I gave the wrong advice, did not know you had yours setup for Sky, yes you will loose the channels by resetting your dish .

I have not tried sky setting so can't advise you on this.

hope someone else could offer you advice

Am I missing something - WHY would anyone need a dreambox to get Free to view channels via Astra 2D, etc.. ( SKY)

Better to buy a SKY box - best EPG - prog guide - or a hard drive PVR sat receiver - if you ain't subscribing to SKY..

Dreamboxes are for hacking and card sharing and the new SKY cards coming out will close that loop.
