Then they deserve all the customers that they don't get !

It is a nice place with good facilities , but why can't they see that increasing admission prices to combat dwindling visitor numbers is NOT the way forward !

Hi NatAless,

That's the same price my family were paying last Aug 2008!

Great day out, and my grand daughter's still talking about it.

Geoff....this is per PERSON !

Definitely not a cheap day out for a family.....especially as you are not allowed to take in your own food and drinks....and the cafe/restaurant is extortionate.

Wow!!!!! I've got my sons and their families coming out in July. I guess we wont be going to the Accapulco or anywhere else thats charging these prices.

There will be 10 of us in total so 200tl will be spent on taking them for a meal and a trip to the karpas.

Good plan Geoff.

But it IS such a pity that they are so short-sighted....it's a lovely place, with great pools, water slides and a nice sandy beach.

I don't expect anything for free....but I reckon if they dropped their entrance fee to 10TL the visitor numbers would more than double.

cronos, agree with you there. It's a weird mentality to put the prices up when you have less people through the gate!

I went to escape yesterday and they have started charging 5TL for a sunbed. You can of course talk your way out of it!!!!! It will be going up soon but would not say how much! And it was empty.....

Such a shame about the high price they charge, especially when there is a few children to pay for.

They are shortsighted, people with children just could not afford return visits, if the prices were reasonable I am sure they would profit a lot more. It is ideal for children and adults alike as the pools and slides are really good.

The thing is they know there is no where else in the Kyrenia to beat it. People should send an e-mail to Acapulco complaining about the price, I for one will.

It appears that Mercure's £30, yes Sterling, could be classed as good value for money.

Please bear in mind all food and drink included.

Probably for our more discerning tourist. Not me, I'll be down the free beach at Aligadi.

Even Güzelyali Beach (facilities= practically zero) charges 5YTL for a sunbed matress. You don't have to take one though. Restaurant is OK no culinary knockouts , but friendly and realtivey humanely priced. The shower and toilets are very clean and hygenic (possibly because no one uses them), but cost extra.

Acapulco was 20 YTL last year as well, however, there are some other facts which nobody is mentioning.

- Children are charged at YTL5 (even teenagers)

- They are relaxed once you are down there about what you take - we take a cool bag with food, beer, drinks etc on the beach with no problem.

- You have complete use of all facilities including the sunbeds, water slides, pool, and the saunas etc.

- It is (arguably) the best beach around Girne

- Free Car Park

It is an £8 per adult / £2 per child fee for the day. In spain you are now paying £5 per sunbed on the beaches and probably at least £5 to park the car !!

If you dont want the facilities, there is Lara and Alagadi down the road which we also use a lot, but I really dont think Acapulco is that expensive to be fair.

Agreed, Perry, it is quite reasonable for a full days entertainment and keeps the kids happy whilst Mum & Dad can relax.

By the way, has anyone been to the Vogue Beach. I havent heard anything about it for a long time.

Have been told that escape will be 15 ytl this, one of the reasons they put their price up last year was because they were getting to many people on the beach, by putting the price up they made they same money but with less people and it made it more comfortable for those there. Don't forget it is not just the tourists that use the beaches, if you are at escape or Acapulco on the weekend it is nearly all locals. Escape does not charge if you arrive after 6pm.

Does any one remember the story in the Cyprus Today last year.........

along the lines of: It is illegal to take payment for addmission to the Beaches. The Hotels and also Escape Beach say the payment is for the Beds and waiter service and also the cleaning of the Beach.

A statement from a Beldeye Dept, think it was Girne said, If you should be prevented from accessing any Beach, then call the Police as it is against the law. All Beaches in Norrth Cyprus belong to the people.

Mindy, yes I remember this and I also seem to remember quite a few postings on here about it. I THINK that you are, quite rightly, allowed to go onto any beach, for, as you say, the beach and the sea belong to everyone. If you choose to hire a sunbed, umbrella, etc. then it's up to you. If you want to just put your towel on the sand, then no-one can (strictly speaking) stop you. I have seen people trying to do this and some quite nasty arguments with the beach boys have ensued, with them insisting you pay. It might be worth trying this and calling the police if you are not 'allowed' to do it.

The way the get around this is by saying that you are using their car park and have walked through their property to get on to the beach. I know if you take a boat to Escape they don't charge you, unless you use there toilets or sun beds, though you can use the restaurant with out the entrance fee.

I was in California recently and whilst there I visited a Restaurant/Beach complex in Malibu, the system there was: Car park entrance fee was $25, but if you ate at the restaurant the fee was only $3. You could use the beautiful clean beaches and fish off the pier for free. also of course if you walked to the beach you could take a picnic as only the car park required a fee.

Hi all!

Sorry, must have read a very old post where someone said it was previously 15YTL, I have been going down there as my family with children are staying at the hotel so have been going to spend time there with them and my fiance works at the hotel, I still have to pay though :0(

although it is a nice beach indeed with good facilities and tomorrow will also hopefully sneak into the Turkish baths & sauna etc !!!

However, hotel or not I think it is ridiculous to pay to go on a beach also and in future will be going to the free beaches like Alagadi, as I don't need an umbrella I just lay my towel down and relax!

Also, on the first day that they arrived I went there and asked reception what room they were in & was told that the hotel have a policy that visitors cannot enter guests' rooms!

Now I just go straight up and bypass reception... it's true that once you are in it is so big that the staff do not know if you are a guest or not!!!

Msg 13: What does 'all food and drink' really mean? Is 30 quid for children as well?

Maybe they should also provide a "season ticket" for us regulars? How much would people be willing to pay for a 1 week, 1 month or 3 month pass?

I can put it to Acapulco management and see what they think of the idea?
