Wanted to treat my wife, (jokingly...) told her that Guido might be a better cook than I think she is, so we went to Guido's (Thursday 23 April, 18.30 hrs). Closed. Alternative, her choice, LaCem, Alsancak. OK, everybody has the right to make a mistake. Don't go there if you had good meals in your life before. Absolutely rubbish but for the prices. What time and when is Guido'd open?!

Ah DC,

There is an old english saying;

' if at first you don't succeed, give up!'

Next time Guido's is closed - go home, lol!!!

Wouldn't it of been prudent to find out if they were open before you left?

You are correct about LaCem though.

I for one am glad DC posted this thread as we were thinking of trying it out next week with my family that are over for a holiday.

Thanks DC

RE msg 4, gooligan > Wouldn't it of been prudent to find out if they were open before you left? <

=> Yes, it would have ("of"?) been very prudent. But we were first trying Grumpy Grouse (closed for non-bookers of the St. George's day dinner - whatever that may mean), than the famous lahmacun joint Dostlar opposite the road (closed) and than I got reckless and suggested Guido"s. See msg 1...

Thanks DC - we won't be going there when we're over in June either. Pity - it's just round the corner from us.

Mind you, 'morally' speaking, should we at least give it a try???

RE msg 7, The_Wicks > Mind you, 'morally' speaking, should we at least give it a try??? <

=> Dear The_Wicks, you know how I hate "the bl**dy Brits" ( ) : do give it a try and don't believe a bl**dy foreigner from the continent... I'll wait for you in the parking lot, till you've finished your weakly baked so-called chips and the fancy-named chicken - and I'll laugh for an hour about you not believing me...

Hans; a mutual friend told me that whenever your wife goes back to clogland you eat out all the time. He reckons you can`t even boil an egg!

Does he exaggerate?

RE msg 11, newscoop > He reckons you can`t even boil an egg! Does he exaggerate? <

=> Not true. I tried to boil two eggs in 2004 and after half a dozen (went to the dogs) I succeeded. So what's the use of trying it again? I KNOW how to do it.

Hans has always had a sense of humour, British or otherwise, its just that some do not realise it.

newscoop,

I think it's through watching too much 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'...

He's easy to spot though - just look for the glare caused by the sun reflecting off the top of his bonce

Keith.
